As a Titan who doesn't run through Strikes and actually kills adds (not for a bounty or quest), and has mods on all my favourite (not quite masterworked) gear sets, I still don't find Strikes, Dungeons, other PvE activities to be too easy.
Even if I did, I would prefer Bungie to look elsewhere to provide more challenge:
-Improve Minor/Major/Boss AI, the bosses just sit there and shoot or move to an invincible phase.
-Add more creative modifiers or instance challenges.
-Don't provide Minors/Majors in Boss fights to players to gain Super energy.
Combining an improved AI Boss with no Minors/Majors spawning would be a better option than nerfing the player.
Nerfing Supers for the sake of challenge (or due to PvP imbalance) on the PvE side takes away the power fantasy that players play for. Not everyone wants to make every aspect of PvE a challenge. If that were the case, Dark Souls, Bloodborne and other games like them would be recommended.
And then there's the "Making content is hard" bit. One could easily argue that Bungie doesn't even want to create new ways to challenge players and instead tones down their current abilities in-game. I can't think of any other game that traditionally does that. Didn't we get a "Go Faster" Update about a year ago?
Furthermore, the whole "trivializes endgame PvE" argument goes out the window when one realizes that Reckoning is the primary problem stemming from this. We chained supers because of the in-surmounting challenge of getting knocked off the bridge and having to start over. They (Bungie) even put so many Shadow Thrall on the bridge that it was impossible to NOT get our super back.
Lastly, the hardcore audience, which is a minority in the playerbase as proven by # of players with Raid clears, can't decide what's right in Destiny for the entire community, as it leads to nerfs and dumbing down of content challenges later on spurring debates like these, and on top of that, takes away from Bungie creating something new.
