Okay, look, this is not okay.
I’m a Gunslinger main. Been one since D1 and will still rock the flaming gun way long into Shadowkeep.
I can appreciate the value of reloading, but this, I find ridiculous.
We’re seriously going with justifying the reload nerf for another class and try to use not one, but two examples from the one class that flat out bypasses the classes’ reload strats outside of activities where they are utilized best in?
And to boot, we’re seriously gonna use Sealed Ahamkara’s Grasps, one of the most niche and impractical Hunter exotics, as an aforementioned example? An exotic that only reloads with melee damage, which is absolutely useless in any ranged gunfight?
Almost all Hunters running non-melee oriented builds will be using the damned reloading dodge because, what a surprise, Hunters are far more gunplay oriented than the melee-related perks make them out to be.
You guys really need some quality control on whoever writes this stuff up because it’s not selling.
That part could’ve been written so it’d say that “influential members” of the Destiny community brought attention to exploitable strategies involving bypassing reload mechanics and that its unintended effects were detracting from the quality of the game experience that you wanted players to feel. The community could fill in the dots after that, but it’d at least be a helluva lot more reasonable than that.
Heck, you could’ve made something up like “Clay_is_Clutch, a renowned Destiny player, discovered a severe exploitation regarding auto-reload mechanics, and so we have thus removed those mechanics/reworked them.” and I would believe that far more than the malarkey that the TWAB is trying to sell me on the discount meat section of the upcoming changes.
I’m an average Destiny player.
I main a class, but I like to stack my plate up and enjoy what each one has to offer.
If you take out something that was a key component in gameplay and served as a strategical advantage in certain activities, you’re not doing anyone any favors, you’re only cutting off a Hydra’s head so another strategy can take place later.
The more you try to detract from how people want to play in order to accommodate how you want them to play is going to go nowhere and will be detrimental in the long run.
Hopefully, I am mistaken in all of this and that future activities will actually promote more diversity in strategies to make challenging feats less challenging or more feasible in order to push out the need for auto reload mechanics existing anywhere else except on a Hunter, but I’m holding on to my ginormous grain of salt and am not letting go until I’m proven otherwise.
I want this game to be more, not less, and with that I leave you a favorite cut bit of Lore I simply adore:

A: The Wavesplitter was not designed to be a musical instrument. That said, we at Omolon are in the business of giving Guardians options, not taking them away.
