Do Streamers represent the community?
So we’ve heard the news on the nerf. A lot of us are 50 50 about it as shown in other polls. As you can easily guess? I don’t agree with it one bit personally having played all 3 classes.
Disclaimer: I wish no misfortune upon Datto, I have watched his content until recently but I have friends who watch his content still. I speak with them and discuss things. He is a streamer and a destiny content creator and this post may as well be free real estate for him. Coding, designing a raid or anything else is a difficult task. I’ll acknowledge that. This community will find ways to break the game once again and this cycle will repeat. I don’t like Datto, but that’s just me. You’re free to your own thoughts. Datto himself speaks for his community as it’s been said repeatedly in the comment section below. Datto merely said something I disagree with, that’s a difference in opinion. Remember, streamers are people and are human.
Personally I don’t even agree with this nerf playing all 3 classes and someone who knows streamers most definitely represent their communities. Within Respect I know we’re very very much conflicted on what we want. we’re people and that’s how it ends up being. By this point I’m mostly curious. I’m genuinely unhappy with it but as I said? Coding and AI are hard to make decent. I’ve already done the song and dance with balance and game breaking things. There’s a lot of room for discussion. I know the streamers mention a lot of things, Bungie listens to them. Try to be somewhat civil because I won’t try to insult him; if I recall Datto admits he wants the game to be harder and he’s on the elite side of the community. I’ll still play the game during Shadowkeep. but I do feel like warlocks and titans are now closer to being useless.
Edit: This post was edited heavily. I expect the poll votes to change heavily. I am slow, not stupid. This post is quite literally a literal hellhole where everyone apparently can speak freely. I like being civil, I’m human after all.
Remember, I speak for myself. I don’t speak for the community so don’t misconceive me as trying to do so.

Armor 2.0 is going to be an even worse grind. Here's an idea, Datto. Don't use Well or Lunafactions. Problem solved. Don't ruin the game for the rest of us because of your e-ego. 99% of us don't play Destiny 24/7. This is why you've lost 13 million players, Bungie.

Almost catering the game to his wishes at times, he makes a video about what he thinks should change and bam...Bungie makes those changes in the next update. -No one was complaining about Rally and Factions, no one but Datto. -No one was complaining about Well, no one but Datto -No one was complaining that bosses died too fast, no one but Datto You see the trend by now, hopefully this thread stays around the top because its going to be really interesting if DMG or Cozmo respond to this.

18 답변You open up a can of dittos. If you haven't notice talk bad about datto and his dittos come out in forces to defend datto and shut down anyone that calls him and bungie out . Luke Smith and bungie call datto by name when they speak of the community that's how close they are people don't stop to remember all of the all expense paid trips to bungie that they give datto and other so called " content creators " . Expect to be insulted by the dittos they have a hive like mentality they need him he's their queen bee .

8 답변I don't watch any streamers, could care less what they say or think, I'm too old for their demographic :) I am not hardcore but I play a lot and I prefer quality of life versus hardcore, its a freaking video game that I play for fun in the evening to forget the stress of my workday. I have a job, I don't need one in my damned video game and if hardcore becomes the rule then fine they can have it and I will find something else to play, pretty simple.

15 답변I never understood the logic behind ‘it makes the game too easy’ as a reason for a nerf. If it makes it too easy, why not use something else to make the game more challenging? It’s like using a flame thrower to kill a spider, then complaining that the flame thrower made it too easy

I next to never see anybody run lunafaction boots and don't see them as that much of a help. There have been times I knew someone was running them yet I was still having to reload which means they don't even work all the time. The same goes with rally barricade it works when it wants to work but I have still had to reload and even had friends ask if they were the only ones having to reload. Not sure what causes it but it happens so I guess the nerfs will make things even worse and make it lunafactions and rally worthless for anything other than boss damage since we have things such as outlaw and feeding frenzy along with several other reload perks. In no way do I feel either of them make the game too easy as they are now and have used them many times over in raids and failed many times over but hey they are also balancing for PC not console.

I agree that streamers don’t represent the community. Not all of us play this game for a job. What I’m on the fence about is whether or not streamers are making points that affect all of us and not just them. Wether we like it or not popular streamers have Bungie’s ear. If they’re conveying issues that apply to all of us, I’m all for it.

Reason being: they are gamers of destiny, just like people on these forums/reddit, in discord channels, etc. The community is made up of many different types of gamers with different circumstances, not just 1 group of players. The issue is when making changes to the whole game, bungie tends to ignore this fact, and caters to a certain subgroup of the game. In D1, they catered to trials players, which affected pve a lot (less ammo, weapon/ability nerfs, the artifact that filled your super for being near teammates, etc.). Vanilla D2, they catered to pvp players (less super/ability spam, double kinetic, less shotgun/sniper usage by making them the same weapon type, etc.). Right now, it seems they are going to cater to streamers, which ignores people that dont have as much time to play as them and people that dont have people to always do things with in game. Bungie needs to stop doing this. They need to stop catering to 1 subgroup, and think of the whole of the community. Right now, the game is in a good spot. Activities range from 'easy as shit' to 'make sure we on point before we attempt this', which is how it should be. Yes, there are some setups that can make the game easier, but not everyone uses those setups all the time, so changes shouldnt be made based on the outliers.

You realize streamers are individuals who all don't share the same opinions ? You realize content creators were all nubs at one time right ? You realize they are literally hundreds of Destiny streamers who help people daily with literally anything FOR FREE . You realize twitch and youtube have propelled the industry in way never thought imaginable, far surpassing most all entertainments today . You realize Bungie does not put their business and hundred of millions of dollars on the line at the word and opinion of a couple dozen content creators ? You realize content creators speak to thousands of people in the community daily and are part of the community whether you like their opinion or not, they are allowed to have one just like you ?

2 답변Raids are the pinnacle of endgame pve content. Players should expect to use the best of the best gear and abilities to clear it, and to complain that you're tired of using the best of the best and it's time for what's best to get a nerf is just stupid. If you dont wanna use the meta, and feel like imposing some challenge UPON YOURSELF, then go for it, use blues, greens, maybe blindfold yourself and tie a hand to your chair. But to nerf Luna, well, and rally cuz of this? They're now going to be effectively useless. And dont give me any of this "bungie wants content to be challenging" nonsense. They don't care if content is challenging, they only care that we dont blow through content so that it gives the illusion there's more content than there actually is, and thus dont complain we have nothing to do

streamers are interested in good content they can play to elevate themselves and make money. Many of these players are highly skilled top .1% of the community. Their wants, needs are not ever going to coincide with that of the community that does not play for money but, for entertainment and fun. Asking streamers for input is not the best way to engage the community. They are part of the community however, players that put in the same amount of time or more for fun need to be asked for input. They will have the same amount of knowledge of the games workings but, non of the bias towards marketing that a streamer has. Then you need to take the average gamer in both time and skil and get their input, and finally, yes, those who don't play often, are underskilled and find out from them, how do we get you to play more, what can we do to make the game fun for you too. Relying on streamers is how we ended up with Reckoning and other activities that missed the mark simply to elevate the streamers status and increase viewership.

As someone who plays the game for a living and is backed by elitists, do you believe Datto represents the community as a whole? As someone who plays the game for a living and only plays with elitist, Datto isnt even a hardcore player, he is in a different category of player, I wouldn’t even say gamer. I would classify him as a professional. Bungie should not be making changes to a game based on his opinion. Datto does not represent hardcore players and most certainly the casual player base.
