Do Streamers represent the community?
So we’ve heard the news on the nerf. A lot of us are 50 50 about it as shown in other polls. As you can easily guess? I don’t agree with it one bit personally having played all 3 classes.
Disclaimer: I wish no misfortune upon Datto, I have watched his content until recently but I have friends who watch his content still. I speak with them and discuss things. He is a streamer and a destiny content creator and this post may as well be free real estate for him. Coding, designing a raid or anything else is a difficult task. I’ll acknowledge that. This community will find ways to break the game once again and this cycle will repeat. I don’t like Datto, but that’s just me. You’re free to your own thoughts. Datto himself speaks for his community as it’s been said repeatedly in the comment section below. Datto merely said something I disagree with, that’s a difference in opinion. Remember, streamers are people and are human.
Personally I don’t even agree with this nerf playing all 3 classes and someone who knows streamers most definitely represent their communities. Within Respect I know we’re very very much conflicted on what we want. we’re people and that’s how it ends up being. By this point I’m mostly curious. I’m genuinely unhappy with it but as I said? Coding and AI are hard to make decent. I’ve already done the song and dance with balance and game breaking things. There’s a lot of room for discussion. I know the streamers mention a lot of things, Bungie listens to them. Try to be somewhat civil because I won’t try to insult him; if I recall Datto admits he wants the game to be harder and he’s on the elite side of the community. I’ll still play the game during Shadowkeep. but I do feel like warlocks and titans are now closer to being useless.
Edit: This post was edited heavily. I expect the poll votes to change heavily. I am slow, not stupid. This post is quite literally a literal hellhole where everyone apparently can speak freely. I like being civil, I’m human after all.
Remember, I speak for myself. I don’t speak for the community so don’t misconceive me as trying to do so.

I've always disliked datto he plays with an elite team and he plays games for a living yet it seems bungie gives more weight to streamers then the majority of players that work fill time and maybe get a few hours after work to play when they are lucky

In his video he posted a few years back (Around the D1 and D2 Time) he is saddened and disheartened that he is no longer making ends meet and has no idea what he will do with his Channel. Now he is the mouth piece of Bungie and claims he knows the Community. Please..... I stopped watching him because of his hypocrisy and unsubscribed from his social media accounts like his YouTube Channels/Twitch/Twitter and am no longer supporting him financially.

I have no idea who this person is. that said what players need to understand that you may not like streamers, but they can be very helpful. Sometimes Bungie has secret secrets that no one has a clue about. Sometimes Bungie gives half the information required to fully understand how to proceed. Before any one cusses me my defence is if you have ever had to use youtube and google to find information on how to complete certain events on here. (Enough said) No they do not represent our community but as a solo player i do not feel i have a community. All that aside I think you wrote a pretty concise piece. We are all humans, our one great aspect is we live and love different things and ways. Putting doubts and concerns on here is the way i believe it should be. I am not sure Bungie care one way or another because most concerns are never addressed. Well done great post great read and totally understandable. Thanks Legate Genesis.

Personally, I tend to follow Houndish for news and MyNameisByf for lore. Paul Tassi also tends to generally reflect my views of the game most often.

I feel like gaming in general has not benefited from streaming. It forces companies to cater to the .01% because they have a large audience and I feel like if it keeps going that way most games will be out of reach (not just to master but to play) for most people. Think destiny is a good microcosm for that. Destiny 1 was a grind for sure but it was doable for anyone one with a non game involved full time job, destiny 2 went to far the other direction and some of forsaken went way to far the way of grind, and now with Shadowkeep it seems like the the wheel is starting to tare itself apart due to an Imbalance. Guess jury is still out if it’s gonna be too much of a grind but from what I’ve read it just looks that way

It depends on the streamer but typically, no. Streamers are already dedicated to playing for a certain amount of time- nobody will tune into a streamer that plays one match and logs off. Yet plenty of players are in and out of activities before going to work or whatever other in life activity. Streamers represent an esoteric segment- themselves and people that like watching them play.

3 답변The argument is pretty easy. Datto represents the hardcore of the hardcorest hardcores meaning his job is to play Destiny and only play Destiny. He has people to play with whenever he wants who are also the hardcore of the hardcorest hardcore who can and will help him with anything and everything he wants because hes some big streamer. He knows every strat to every encounter in every activity. He knows exactly which buffs and debuffs to stack to get the most out of a damage phase. He has every gun, every armor piece, every ghost shell, ship, you name it. The kids entire life revolves around Destiny. Does this make him the perfect person to listen to in terms of making changes to the game? Absolutely not. Hes the type of guy you definitely dont want to listen to. The clear majority of people who play destiny are nowhere near being like him, or any other streamer for that matter. They dont know every exact, tiny, miniscule part of every single thing in the game. Datto wants the game to be harder for him. Thats coming from a guy who, again, plays Destiny as a job every day with people who only play Destiny. Its coming from a guy who represents MAYBE the top .1% of people who play Destiny, the best of the best of the best. If you dont get the point by now, im saying he plays the game so much that obviously its going to be easy for him. Its stupid of him to say he wants the game to be harder when the vast majority of people play the game for fun and as a hobby, not a job. If youre telling me you want this game to become the type of game this one kid wants, youre an idiot, plain and simple. 😊

Because you don't even watch his content in the first place, you think you have an opinion about him. 2 답변Personally, I only dislike nerfs if they don’t make sense (sleeper before opulence). All the things hit were either broken or borderline cheat codes that allowed anyone the stomp nearly everything. With the chance to rally/lunafactions they will still be great options but now not the [i]only[/i] option. Feel free to disagree, but the autoloads were a bigger crutch than self-rez, and I play warlock. They should’ve never been removed a long time ago.

They don't represent the community and they do at the same time. Being elite gamers, streamers represent less than 1% of the playerbase. But being content creators, they are seen as representing the playerbase in bungie's eyes... It's not easy road to walk as Bungie needs to listen to both hardcore and casual gamers in order to sell their game well. You can't cater to one group and forget about the other one.

27 답변It always cracks me up when players like him complain about D2 not being "challenging" enough. LOL. Yeah, who would have thought that doing a Raid hundreds of times would make it easier to beat after a while? Who knew? So, the entire game needs to be tweaked to make it harder for him and his elite group. Sounds fair. lol.

Agreed. The problem is Bungie. They hold to a conceit this is a group activity one with friends & active clan, or a streamer with loads of fans and buddies ready to jump in for any goal. They call themselves AAA game designers on their resumes.

I love that most of them are acting like Borderlands 3 is the only competition coming around for Destiny. Today Sept 6th Monster Hunter World Iceborne comes out, that's where I am going to spend most of my time from now on in a better series. Some will go to Borderlands and some will even go to CoD heck that story is looking appealing to me and I mostly hate CoD. Theres a great bunch of games all happening around this time. Shadowkeep continues to look so much lesser than ALL the other competition currently popping up around now. What's the story from Bungie and their YouTubers/Streamers? Oh Destiny 2 is great it was never terrible and it's the only game that matters with only BL3 going to push against it, but Bungie will drop some major hit to push against it that will make BL3 look like chumps! Their own delusions are insane at this point.

Streamers who do weapon reviews and are not ultra elite players like fallout, cool guy, and aztecross, I would say do represent the community well. Sweaty pve guys like Gladd, and Pvp gods like frostbolt, probably don't so much, but they are still players who love the game. Give streamers a break.
