How Is Nobody Talking About Console’s Horrible Loading Times? (Again)
The game’s loading times have gotten dramatically worse over the past months since that one update. Its super frustrating and easily takes away some of the fun.
EDIT: I’ve heard stuff about SSD’s improving loading times. As much as i don’t like how I feel like an SSD is so necessary for older gen consoles, I have started to consider getting one. If anyone could help me out with details on how they work, which ones work well, which ones are cheapest, etc., I would greatly appreciate it (I’m on xbox if that’s a necessary detail)

1 답변I don't have a problem with the load times so much. The wait on ingame menu's on the other hand is getting pretty bad. Better be in some deep cover if you want to change loadouts and its pretty much a freebee kill for someone in pvp. PS4pro.

I've got a Samsung T5 SSD on my Xbox One and it does help but recently the loading times have gotten longer than before I first got it. Unfortunately I don't know what Bungie can do to solve this as its the consoles hardware and limitations that are the issue I'm assuming? Only alternative would be less stuff in-game which, of course, we don't want!?

The load times have DEFINITELY gotten worse. That one cabal strike with Kargan, where EVERYONE pauses mid air and gets a 5-10 second "Loading...", yea you all know which one. That happens to me in the Tower now when it never used to. Within the last month or 2, the delay between opening any menu and the time it takes to actually load up the visuals. Certain transitional areas in the Tower now have a 1-3 second delay whereas there never used to be ANY. I'm hoping it has to deal with Solstice event but the down side is, if it's because of the size of solstice and not bug related, this doesn't look good for Shadowkeep and console users. Ps. I run a PS4 Pro with a 500 GB EVO SSD and my son's both run PS4 Slims with 1TB SSHD. The lag is exceptionally noticeable on the slim but is also evident on the Pro. 🤞 it's a code bug and gets resolved.

2 답변File size is massive for no reason. I mean you could seriously remove half the planets and nobody would care. We have faction vendors and locations for no reason....anybody go in the tower hanger of late? There is so much fluff in the game they could remove to clear space. Do we need twenty of the same ghost or sparrow? Can we take our 50 hoard modes and consolidate maybe? This would require effort though, which I’m still not sure Bungie really prioritizes...

People seem to think it’s just a hardware problem but it’s not difficult to recognise the significant differences between D2 and other online games. Considering Bungo made their own engine for Destiny, you’ve gotta be kidding yourself if you think they aren’t the main problem. On that note, it’s unlikely we’ll see a change until an inevitable “Destiny 3” comes along. Hopefully, by then, Bungo will use a proper engine instead of making one from scratch.

Anyone with half a brain knows what the issue is and it's not the console.

4 답변Because there is nothing bungie can do about it. Console processors were dated from the day they debuted in 2014 or whatever. Before I got my “good” pc with a ryzen 5 and a gtx 960 (which is pretty low range) I had a very old prebuilt system from 2012 with an FX-4130 and even that old thing opened up my character screen and director faster than my PS4 could. This game is held back severely by console hardware sadly. Unless bungie pulls off some miracle optimization update this game won’t see fast loading times or 60 fps for years until current generation consoles are ditched. Like I said though we are years away from that point because the next gen is still far from out.

2 답변Bungie do need to have their side looked at as me and my clan, All on PC and all running D2 on SSD's with decently fast internet, Took 3 minutes a few nights ago to load into Scourge, Bungie need to hire good network engineers because right now in that area it seems it's is being run by people who have no idea.

An SSDwill make a great deal of difference if you have an xbox1-S or ps4 pro. The bad thing is that an SSD will do nothing for the ps4 or regular xbox. You might get a small boost if you go internally and install one. You are better off to just save your money and put it towards a pro system or just save for one of the new consoles coming out next year.

5 답변SSD is 100% the answer to loading times. I got the Samsung Portable SSD T5 (500GB) for $80 at Best Buy (Destiny 2 is the only game I play really so 500GB made the most sense) for my One X, and couldn’t be happier. From game start up to flying in orbit takes about 45 seconds. Loading into the Tower takes about 25-30 seconds. Loading times with an SSD are cut by about 50%, and sometimes more (especially in terms of the item management screen. All of my items load almost instantaneously). Take note, the Xbox One doesn’t really allow for an internal installation of an SSD without overriding warranties, so an external is the way to go. It’s easier anyway. Simple plug and play.

its only going to get worse. as the game evolves, your hardware gets older. if you want better loading times, upgrade your hardware. the game was fine when it was released. or, you could just wait for the next gen consoles, which are promoting faster load times.
