So this morning, I was thinking about all the different writing projects I have going on and different stories that I’ve started and never finished, mostly due to laziness. I was thinking about what I could possibly do that’s never been done before (here in Offtopic that is) and then it hit me.
Y’all remember those Choose Your Own Adventure books? You would open them up and then you’d be given a choice of what page to turn to, and the story would develop differently depending on where you went. Some choices would lead to buried treasure, some would lead to a gruesome death, but you could always just start over (or cheat and go to where you died and choose a different option.
I figure I could write a story like this set here in Offtopic, with a few NPCs picked out from various Offtopic personas that would work well, but there wouldn’t be a need for signups because you, the reader, are the protagonist.
The catch is, though- it would need to be long. Super long. Even with a question post, it wouldn’t fit on one post, so I’d need to post multiple threads at once with links connecting them, and they’d have to be organized on a master post. So I’d post five posts at once for the same story (since it couldn’t be split up into a chapter-type thing released chronologically like most stories). This could easily be seen as spam or annoying if I did it without warning.
So anyway, thoughts? Would y’all be into something like that?
Edit: looks like I’ve got the OK, so I’m gonna start writing tomorrow. 😃

작성자: man_of_war_r2 8/21/2019 7:23:43 PMYou can use me as an NPC if you want (If you want a character then just ask), and if you need some ideas on writing the story just PM me or reply to this comment. EDIT: kill me, i want my character to die, i don't know why.

I tried something like this once, and i got up to like 40 something different "levels" i guess. Its pretty tough, especially if you don't have much of a plan. If you do have a set plan and know the basic storyline for each path, then it shouldn't be too difficult. I wish you the best of luck! :)
Y’all remember those Choose Your Own Adventure books?
I’ve actually been waiting for one of you guys to try that here. I think the format inherent to forum posts would work well with the structure of narrative those books tell.

3 답변I had the same idea after watching Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, but then I realized: 1. I am not creative enough to actually come up with a story. 2. I'm too busy/lazy to see it through. 3. As Bandersnatch taught us, doing a proper choose your own adventure is not that easy unless you want it to be very basic. I think it would be an interesting thing for OffTopic to take part in and I commend you for taking on such a task. There is a chance you could create it all in one thread. I'd suggest getting everything organized ahead of time to determine how many posts/choices you need. You can then create a thread and the reply to it n amount of times with 1, 2, 3...n, and then go back and edit those posts such that post "4" has choice "4" that is linked to by an answer of "Run away!" in post "2". Anyway, just a suggestion.
