Let me just say, WOW,
I am usually not a fan of reskinned armor, I'm not gonna lie. With that said, this years armor is a reskin that I am more than happy to grind for!!! That set is INCREDIBLE, it honestly makes last year's gear look like it was drawn by a 6 year old. Was it just an updated version of the last Solstice set? Yea, and that does kinda stink, but the details are just so much better. I remember checking out the set from last year a few months back and thinking, "Wow, this is kinda weak". It was cool in its time, yea, but is lacking detail and the ornaments looked lazy (the glows on last years set would just kinda overlap pieces of gold and stuff, it didn't really mesh together). The detail on this years ornament set is fantastic, its more akin to the stuff you see in D1. For the armor, I'll give you a 9.999999999 out of 10, only losing a fraction of a point for it being a reskin.
Also related to the armor, here's the biggest tip of the cap: its gonna work with armor 2.0!!! This was the best decision you've made in a loooooong time Bungie. I am a fairly hardcore player, and got my roommate to pick up the game last winter but he hasn't been on in a while. He was thinking about coming back for the Solstice, but was wary because he thought it would've been a pointless grind that led to irrelevant armor. I sent him the link to your announcement and told him the details, and he's getting back on tonight because of the excitement! Its awesome to know that this set (which is arguably the best looking set in D2) is gonna be usable, and isn't just a pointless grind. This was a massive step in the right direction after last year.
Lastly, the rest of the cosmetics: you've OUTDONE yourself. A beachball ghost? A TINY PLASTIC BOAT SPARROW???? In the words of Shaxx, "THIS IS AMAZING!!!". All of this on top of what looks like another promising new game-mode (similar to the Verdant Forest in some ways)...it adds up and looks like this will be an awesome Solstice!!! Keep this up Bungie!!!
As always, keep it civil in the comments, and eye's up!
***EDIT***
Thought I'd make this edit for all the haters out there. No, I'm not a noob, and I don't love everything that Bungie does. In fact, this is the first post I've made thats outwardly praising them--most posts I make on this forum are incredibly critical of what Bungie does. I've long given them heat for their awful RNG loot systems in raids, as well as network issues and questionable decisions for the sandbox. The fact is, there doing a lot right with this event, and I that deserves praise. Is there no event engram? Yea, that part sucks, and the only logical explanation is to bait people into buying silver. They're a company though, and whether you like it or not, they can do whatever they want to make money. You don't need to buy silver either, its just gonna be harder to earn bright dust for everything if you don't have any right now.
***EDIT #2***
A lot of people keep saying, "dude its just a reskin"....I know, that was literally what I said in the second line of the post.

Look at the big picture, they release trubite hall and encourage players to spend dust. Then right after that they release solstice and make all the event items only purchasable with dust or silver. Sure, you can get the armor. All the glows, emotes, shaders, ghosts, sparrows and so on will be eververse and therefore you will only be able to get them with dust or silver. I'm looking forward to the event, however I have a feeling it's going end up being branded a cash grab, which will be a shame. Bungee moved away from this direction previously but seem to be falling back into old habits.

10 답변작성자: Maskerader 7/25/2019 2:35:11 AMThe only thing that matters to me is if they make these stupid PVP requirements again, like they did last year. I don't have a hope they'll refrain from it, though, which would mean - I'm not grinding for that armor. They can shove their cesspool of PVP to where lights don't shine. At least I get the EAZ, sounds interesting. Upd: Lol, people already datamined quest steps, and I was right. Fkn PVP once again. Hard pass on that.

1 답변*John Jonah Jameson laugh meme * oh sweet flower child, don’t encourage this. You are; 1. Getting reskinned old armor 2. Doing another long haul mission for said already acquired armor 3. Eververse store is not getting enough in game silver purchases so out goes engrams for her to force buy ins of bright dust (save tedious bounties for her which are worth a sand pebble) 4. Another Eververse update, as all other vendors should be shot dead for how useless they are now

1 답변Is there a light requirement? I want the Titan armor but really don’t want to play forsaken story a 3rd time

it feels wrong grinding for the same exact Armor set we already grinded for last year, it's like ok guys here's this gear again, now go grind for it again, but worry not cause this time you'll be able to turn it into 2.0 or whatever, cause we definitely can't do that with last year's armor, dont ask why, just go grind for it once again

5 답변Forcing people to play crucible, to get new armor in Solstice, is again, just stupid. I'll pass. Last time this type of thing happened, the new armor you grinded for was obsolete weeks later.

As of right now, the only complaint that I would have with Solstice of Heroes '19 is the lack of an event engram. I understand the move was made to give players more control over what they want, as that has been an issue in the past. (For example, Spicy Ramen was probably the only exotic emote I didn't get in Season 1, and in fact, I still don't have it to this day, even with the Best of Year One Engram.) However, a fatal blow was struck to this decision before it was even made: The Tribute Hall. As most people likely know, the statue of Emperor Calus in the Tribute Hall offers some triumphs in exchange for Bright Dust. Obviously, the point is to lower the exorbitant cost and not have to pay a ton of resources, but for people who are broke on Bright Dust (like me), they probably won't have any left over for the event. Looks like these next few days before reset is as good a time as ever to use those Eververse Bounty Notes.

6 답변Lmfao!!! Bungie employee get out of that body. Why didn’t you add that we can throw them all barely 3 weeks after having farmed them? Anyway Bungie employee, rest assured, most triumph and title addicts will farm these for the moments of triumph, not for their esthetics. Last but not least, they actually aren’t. It’s ok may be for a deprived D2 noob, but for the rest, it’s just another cheap reskin. But then I may be replying to someone who finds the iron banner gears amazing.

10 답변Hold on to your britches because the last solstice event we had armor that was worthless after it was done....all that grinding for worthless crap in the long run

2 답변Sorry but this was the same reskinned armor from Solstice of year 1. I may be wrong but they look the exact same.

3 답변If you are excited to do the same style event over and over again that's on you. For me I'm gonna pass. The haunted forest style events are boring.
-
25 답변Glad that the event has you excited but it will be a pass for me. Sorry, but the EAZ is just another Haunted Forest / Verdant Forest mode with inevitable timer mechanics that has been done to death in Destiny 2. I was truly hoping that we get a similar treatment that we had in last year's SoH with modified versions of the Red War story missions, but this year it would be with the Forsaken. Now I'll admit that the announcement that the SoH armor will be the first to use the new Armor 2.0 system was surprising. It will give us an early preview of what is to come with Shadowkeep, but for the actual armor itself - I'll pass since it basically the same armor set from last year. And I won't even start if the data-mined steps for the armor is true (or even partially true)...
