Crucible is terrible.

How does one improve in PvP...? Where is the playlist where I can verse people of similar (and SLIGHTLY) better skill-levels? I keep getting -blam!-ed in Quickplay, like absolutely DESTROYED. I hear Quickplay is "working as intended" because sweatlords need a place to "kick back and not try so hard" (which aparently means dropping 50+ bombs at my and my kinds (blueberries) expense. Really relaxing for all uf us I tell ya. Having a GREAT TIME being your -blam!-ing punching bag. So then I hear the Competative playlist offers SKILLBASED matchmaking, so I go try that, obviously thinking I'll have games that are even. WRONG. DEAD WRONG. I get to 608 Glory Rank (Whooo, yeah I'm THAT BAD, sue me)... and what do I meet? Not Forgotten, a pinacle weapon awarded for reaching Legend. THE TOP TEIR OF COMPETATIVE!!! What's the "competative" part of having one of the worst D2 players facing off against a team of NF weilding Sweatlords....? Who's entertained by that? How am I supposed to improve my gameplay against that, it's impossible to keep up. If I'm trying to excell at math while still on the level of 1+1 being clunky and unintuitive, it's not gonna be fun for anyone if my peers are at the level of solving heat equations with neumann boundary conditions (google it if cunfused) AND WE ARE IN THE SAME -blam!-ING CLASSROOM!! GIVE ME A PLAYLIST WHERE MATCHMAKING PRIORITIZES SKILLBASE PRIMARILY, CONNECTION SECONDARILY! What is your experience with matchmaking? Do you think its Great or terrible?

  • re spawn's are terrible balance is terrible match making is terrible map's were for 4v4 not 6v6 lop sided game's month's waiting for any kind of change get's to the point were you don't see the point doing anything pvp in this game

    • I like crucible right now (at least qp), but looking at it objectively, I think Crucible is in a decent spot, but with some still much needed changes. Map design is arguably the biggest change that D2 PvP needs. The fact that an entire weapon archetype (Scout Rifles) is in a great position stat-wise, but is only being used on two maps in the entire game is tragic. More larger maps can easily turn this problem around, as well as fix other problems such as the inherent weakness of Golden Gun in D2. As it stands, GG suffers compared to other supers due to the speed at which other roaming supers can close the distance between players in the close-mid range maps we have. Stacked on top of this is the lack of added armor one has in GG super, adding to the delicate nature of the class. Now this is not me advocating for GG to have more armor, since D1 proved that Gunslingers don’t need it, but it does need another sort of buff to keep up the pace. Speaking of supers, why doesn’t Shadowshot activate immediately. We had the same issue with it in D1, Bungie changed it, and everyone loved it. Similarly, it seems unreasonable that the class tree with one big arrow can’t kill someone in their super. Here’s another problem with supers: armor. Now for GG and, imo, Nova Warp, the extra armor, or lack there of, is not a problem. But as it stands, all other supers have armor equivalent to D1 Sunbreaker upon its release into the game, which is pretty ridiculous. Moving on, I want to mix in some positives. Weapon balance is in a really good state in terms of actual weapon design(at least on console;can’t speak for PC). Sure, LoW still needs a rework, Pulse Rifles could use a little range change, and Rockets should just go from 1 to 2 in the magazine, except Wardcliff Coil. But besides that, it’s really good. Some may argue that Hand Cannons need less flinch and no bloom, but I think it’s perfectly fine because it allows Auto Rifles to consistently be a challenge to them. Hand Cannons are inherently better than Auto Rifles, as the occupy the same ranges, but with both players hitting all headshots, HC wins against AR everytime, and for that matter, most other weapon archetypes. That being said, the TTK difference is very small, with flinch affecting all players, blooms evens the odds a little bit. It sounds like it would make more sense to buff AR damage and remove bloom, but then ARs could easily be overwhelmingly the best archetype in the game, as seen with vanilla D1. Map design is the key issue in weapon balance. I have more thoughts, but I also have a job to get ready. So this is what I got for now.

    • Solo match made to fabled this season and had never gotten a pinnacle weapon (or tried before now). Felt pretty good, entered team chat every match and people talked I’d say just over 1/2 of the time. Wish a would have focused the MT grenade launcher doubles and trajectory medals more because I’m pretty much sticking to quick play to finish it up at a much slower pace. Don’t want to be “that guy” match making at 2300 pts with 3 nade launchers equipped. I’m pretty happy with where match making is right now and stoked fellow blue berries hit right on the dpad. But F bottom tree striker lol.

    • Maybe just maybe. Take it easy. Ranting about how bad you are is cry of attention. And that my friend is not going to help improve your skills Maybe lower the look speed on your controller. Buy a pro controller for extra buttons.*helps a lot* Record your gameplay. Watch other players who are skilled. Find the weapon you are comfortable with *or loadout*

        • When you play crucible, you either end up getting wrecked or being the wrecker. Games where you're neck and neck with the enemy team are extremely rare, so it only goes to show that any sense of skill based matchmaking is a total fabrication, at best. Any notion of this game being "competitive" or "balanced" is borderline ridiculous. Oh well, at least the revoker didn't require me to get to fabled. Getting Recluse was damn nightmare.

          • Bungie have made it very clear they are only catering to the elite in pvp nowadays, if you’re an average player that wants to have fun, then the crucible is no place for you I’m afraid. Every design decision made in the last 2 years reinforces this, it’s one of the main reasons I (and about 90%) of the player base have walked away from destiny. The strange thing is that bungie say they want us to return, but then make both pve and pvp more elitist just to keep the streamers and youtubers happy. Only time will tell if things will improve, there’s many of that would love to return if they remember how to make the game fun for all again.

          • First off, people got the pinnacle weapons seasons ago. At the start of each season, glory resets to 0. With that in mind, it’s perfectly possible for you to run into people with nf and recluse and lunas howl on your way up the glory ladder as they could very well be restarting their journey after season reset. Matchmaking isn’t perfect but don’t make out that you’re getting paired with people who are on 5500 glory points. You aren’t.

          • I ran into this issue yesterday I just started my competitive journey on PC and Reached 900 glory fairly easily and then a Full team of recluses ques up and sweats big time In my head I’m thinking Weird...gotta be 2100 to get that gun and I’m no where close to 2100 So basically the cues have nothing to do with your glory Legends are still pub stomping fngs

          • Match making in this game is dogshit. Much better last season. By this time last season I got to 4100 glory solo. This season. The game is rigged to -blam!- you. Either it be you face stacked teams all the time at 2100 glory. Or damage for the other team is increased by 50%. Here is a clip to prove my point. This is a pulse rifle. They don't two tap. Once you reach 5500 glory. You are kicked out of this lobby and move on to lobby # and start at 6000 glory-10K glory. These people won't match make with anyone in lobby 1. This way, it might help reduce people at 5500 glory matching with people at 600 glory. Or stop giving me a win, lose, win, lose,win, lose, lose, lose, lose, win kind of game experience with broken mechanics involved. I don't mind losing. But when shots don't register, or I am dying faster than I should and I am facing stacked teams that clearly have connection advantage in the lobby. Something else needs to be done to help progress in comp faster. Also, when your teammate leaves a match. A screen should pop up that freezes the match until they find a replacement or ask if we want to cancel the match. The person that left the match should get a 24 hour ban for leaving the match. But people trying to play shouldn't lose their win streak, nor comp points.

            • I really enjoy myself in the quickplay list. Yeah, sometimes people are better than you, but you have to simply adapt to their playstyle. I have my own playstyle and mostly use off-meta weapons. Just play the game and youll get better eventually.

            • The thing that pisses me off is when gamebreaking weapons like Lord of Wolves exist and Bungie takes weeks to patch them. That gun is literally like a cheatcode that deletes anything from the game. Requires no skill in aiming, can kill 2 people in 1 burst, kills instantly, deletes supers, has the range of a -blam!-ing handcannon. It should have been patched day 1. This isn't the first time a gun has been broken and it definitely won't be the last. I've barely played because it's just teams full of shitlords exploiting it. It's about as enjoyable as -blam!-ing a cactus. Can't wait for it to be patched.

            • I feel you, I think the biggest issue is balance... Respawns are bad, yes Matchmaking could be way better, yes But I feel a lot of this could be remedied with a proper balance of weapons, gear, and abilities. Sad but true, with any gear entailing a "perk system", someone will consistently have an advantage, theres no way to perfectly balance a system like destiny's without removing the system they have in place. I'm an awful pvp goer (avg 0.74 k/d), but I dont see THAT much of a drastic overhaul in pvp, to where its perfectly balanced. Armor 2.0 will certainly make things more interesting, as far as the perk system goes, but I want to see more before I fully commit to becoming a daily pvp player.

            • That’s how I never got the recluse it’s because I always get put into a team with trash players and the opponents always use the jotunn, lord of wolves and erentil and not forgotten bungie should make rule where only people who have level 50 and have power level of 700 can join. all though there’s no level advantages enabled.

            • You improve by watching clips of yourself play.....I yelled at myself a few times doing this. Another thing is you have to quickly read your opponents. Are they rushers, campers, team shooting #$$_###, hardscopers, meta users. Adjust to those factors. And some times people are just better than you. Other times your teammates are just trash or it's one of your off days.

            • Yeah... don’t know if it’s the flood of new/returning players that I constantly get paired up with that appear to not have thumbs or Bungie tweaked the matchmaking. Last season I was able to easily get up to Fabled with my high end being at 2981 SOLO. Now I can’t even get above 700! I’m not the best player in the world, and I tend to play the objective so my KD isn’t always very good, but I’ve had a consistent 2.5 kda this season. I don’t know what was wrong. Maybe I’ve just been having bad luck or my time away from the crucible is getting to me.

              • i would normally say play quickplay but right now its a tryhard mess, to be honest u are better off in competitive, i enjoy it playing better than quickplay, and try a loadout that suits u, ive seen so many people with the same guns like following a trend

              • Yeah, Comp isn't skill based. That's just more bullshit the top 10% spread to protect their being able to farm players in QP. Everything the top players have told the community at large about skill in matchmaking is all bullshit and lies. SBMM makes the game MUCH better for 90% of the player base including solo players who having none is especially brutal for. Bungie understand that removing SBMM was not a good idea, but the top players have so much influence that when they all petitioned Bungie to leave it out of QP in Y2, they felt pressured to acquiesce. Really hoping September fixes it because it's also helped completely -blam!- weapon balancing since without any skill factors, there's no baseline to balance weapons since there's no way to know what is weapons over/under performing and what's just massive player skill discrepancies.

                • My main -blam!- about PvP is... Fusions rifles and shotguns run the game Maps sucks and are too small for 6v6 Auto rifles, pulse rifles, sidearms, and sub machine guns aren’t worth using. What if they lower the TTK? Or buff auto rifles? I wonder if they ever plan on making PvP better.

                  • I have a love/hate relationship with PvP in D2. Too many times, it is unplayable for me. Lag, horrible spawn points, inconsistent loot, putting me in half finished matches and facing expert players make it a poor experience in Quickplay. It's impossible to improve in these conditions. I can't get better. However, the flip side of that is it can be really fun. With the Revoker quest, there's a lot of sniping going on. I'm loving this in the Crucible. There is a lot of satisfaction being able to pull of a headshot on the PS4. If the lag is less, I can do okay even against better competition. The Iron Banner also makes PvP much better, in my case. I notice less lag and more competition that is closer to my skill level.

                  • first off weekends are way worse than weekdays. dont play late at night. if you are super bad hang behind your team with a pulse rifle,scout, or sniper till you get a good feel for it. after awhile you will get better braver and be fine.
