not to be a fortnite fanboy because that game sucks but at least they brought the game up to 60 fps in just another one of their weekly updates, and it actually worked very well from the beginning. now it never dips below 60 even though they have significantly improved texture quality overtime. Destiny can definitely do it, it doesnt need to roll out alongside some content release.

Theres no reason bungie should be continuing to use an engine that was made for halo reach and old gen consoles. Even if you forget the current year, when destiny 2 came out in 2017 they should have launched a new engine. I know this costs a lot of money and isnt just the flip of a switch but the engine is the foundation. They could make this game as amazing as they want in terms of content but if they keep using such a dated engine it will always be fundamentally flawed.

I think they were bound by Activision as to the costs and timelines associated with the release. I think that is why we are not hearing anything about d3 yet (hoping at least) as now they are unchained they might make the needed changes.

I've been wondering about that. Now that they're independent, will they license the Unreal engine, or something? I know they'd end up having to pay Epic, but if the stories about how rough the Tiger engine is to work with, maybe the cost would be offset by better ease-of-use.

PC was coded from the start by vicarious visions for pc, while bungie coded consoles, while the same game they are not the same under the hood and since the game would still be playable on systems that could not handle the change they would have to create a separate game for the next gen to enable it. All of that work with no return on investment.
