I never really got the whole “pride month” thing, but it sounds like fun I suppose. Now, I command you my fellow offtopians, to spread the gay!

The thing we have to understand is that it’s just a celebration of culture. As a straight, white, Christian, cis male myself of course (like most of y’all), I don’t personally have a reason to celebrate pride month, but the argument I so often hear is that if a gay pride month existed, then so should a straight pride month. This is a valid point of view in this day and age where things like gayness are becoming a normal part of humanity and we are fixing the errors of the past. But the fixing isn’t done yet. We can’t just say “Well we got rid of Jim Crow laws and there’s a black guy who lives two blocks away, so racism doesn’t exist.” It’s the same thing when it comes to Gay Pride. Why shouldn’t people be proud of who they are? Homosexuality is something that was widely and unquestionably condemned as a sin until the 20th century... and still is by some folks (usually the ones banging their sisters). The other argument, or point of view more accurately, that is also common among us straight guys is “Well I’m fine with gay people, I just don’t want them to force it down my throat.” Okay, but what about every Christian holiday? You think Jewish people or atheists or any non Christians give a shit about Jesus being born? Of course not! Do any of us give a shit about someone else being gay? Of course not! But Christmas decorations go up every year, because it’s a joyous celebration of our culture and we have the right to do so. Gay pride month is the exact. Same. Thing. Do we care that they’re gay? No. Do they care that we’re Christians? No. Do we have the right to put up a Nativity Scene and some lights? Maybe go to a parade? Obviously! Do they have the right to put out a rainbow flag? Maybe have a parade? Yes! Done deal. End of story, we move on with life and everyone celebrates their own culture in peace.

Its part of how you reclaim your humanity from those who would deny it.

9 답변작성자: Iron 6/3/2019 3:32:01 AMWhy does there need to be a month for this. Months like these are stupid, I don't like them for anything. I don't condone a straight people month just as much as I don't condone pride month.

5 답변The only thing I like about Pride Month as a not straight person are all the people that crawl out to whine about Pride Month and say things like "well where's muh straight white Christian male pride month?!" Lol, I'm an Athiest but y'all don't hear me whining about pushing Christmas in everyone's face WAAAAAY harder from practically the end of October! From movie marathons to stores to music, it's everywhere! And if you say something about it, these same people whine about THE WAR ON CHRISTMAS! People are ridiculous, I love it!

9 답변I love how this gets shoved at everyone every year and if they started a straight month, people would riot. Hilarious how tolerant people claim to be.
