Bungie has this ideology that you don't want one weapon to be a "jack of all trades."
With the nerf to whisper, it is only worth using for boss damage now.
Yes, it is stupid, its suppose to be a strong exotic, but here we are.

I can't imagine a situation now where I'd want to actually use whisper now. Think about it. Freaking rocket launchers that can clear a whole room come with 6 rounds. Here's a single target sniper rifle that has merely 3 more max rounds. It's ridiculous. The White Nail proc only ever happened on big stable boss DPS phases. Using it for general mucking about is now totally 100% useless. Just last week when I was doing SotP map room, I used nearly every round of a 20 round magazine. Breaking shields, killing snipers etc. And now there are all these people telling me how to play the game and that I was somehow "doing it wrong". I seriously don't get it. They've ruined this "weapon" with this absurd nerf. Actually I haven't even played since yesterday now. I did an hour of old crap and was "rewarded" with two armor pieces at 651 and have just been too pissed to play.

Whisper was never the "best" at ad clear or shield popping. There were weapons that will better at it, still is. All this did was make it so you have to sit on your ammo when using whisper and save it for boss damage. You may be okay with that, I am not.
Bungie has this ideology that you don't want one weapon to be a "jack of all trades."
This is called good game development, sorry. If this happens, you failed at making a diverse weapon set. Why not just give everyone one gun that did everything then?
-
First of all, Whisper was already typically only used for boss damage as you can't take full advantage of its perk set unless you have god aim on trash ads. This only hurts people who were using the weapon because they liked to. Not for those who only use it when you can take full advantage of the perk.

작성자: rainbows 3/7/2019 5:20:39 AMYes, with its slow RoF it's not a good add-clear gun compared to other weapons that one-tap most things. I think that is quite interesting potentially - if they made a fast RoF gun that tore through adds like nothing else but had a low ammunition count and similar mechanics to Whisper.

작성자: Fridén 3/6/2019 3:49:20 PMIf you shooting trash ads for fun, you are not taking careful shots. That kinda defeats the purpose. Its no different than taking TLW into PVE content. You are not going for an optimal load out. You are just screwing around.
-
That much is obvious. My point being that not all content requires careful consideration or "try hard pants" when completing an activity. If someone wants to put on the spindle and shoot trash ads without care during a flash point, who cares? Why nerf that possibility?
-
Dude, I would understand that in an environment were ammo management matters. There are a TON of PVE activities were ammo management just doesn't matter. You are using it for FUN, CARELESSLY. I am not talking about endgame PVE here.
-
For whisper? Now, yes. It wasn't the way before. It wasn't that way before. The nerf to whisper was a nerf to fun. There are plenty of other heavy weapons with high reserves that you can due that with now, it just won't be with the whisper.

작성자: Fridén 3/6/2019 4:48:54 PMDude. I have already said this. I am not talking about boss DPS. MOST of the bosses in this game have a large critical hit box. IT IS NOT HARD to hit 3 crits in a row and proc the perk. The reduction in ammo reserves just didn't effect that. Not at all. We are not arguing the same point here dude.
-
That change will NOT effect most players. Missing happens, but MOST players still WILL NOT miss enough shots to the point were the perk will not activate anymore. You have to miss 10 times. How many people are honestly that inaccurate on a boss fight? It just doesn't happen enough to matter. The only thing this effected was the fun factor. Period.

작성자: Fridén 3/6/2019 9:29:55 PMTelling you now man, people don't and still won't use this weapon against bosses that don't take full advantage of the perk and have a large critical box. I hardly used it before the nerf, as few encounters require that amount of DPS as it is. All this did was make it so OP will no longer use it against trash ads. You think that is okay, I don't. Agree to disagree.
