La La Land:
So my fellow organist scholar (so fancy I know) lent me his La La Land soundtrack sheet music and I’ve been enjoying it a lot.
Does the movie do anything good for it? Or should I just stick with the soundtrack?

1 답변Eh. The music only made it mediocre. If it’s up to me I’ll never see it again. One time was more than enough

4 답변Eh. The film is a 8.2/10 imo. Probably being quite generous. I know it’s a lot of jazz but that’s not my thing really. I liked the film but it can be a little long and I didn’t really feel as satisfied as what some people did. My friend watched it and she loved it. I watched it and was like. Eh. It’s good. But there are some flaws. Obviously you should judge it for yourself and don’t let others tell you what to do. Which I guess contradicts this post. Oh well. I say give it a go. You may enjoy it. You might not.

I really enjoy the soundtrack and I think it does justice for jazz as a genre while making it accessible to the general public to enjoy. The cinematography is fantastic and the film is stunningly gorgeous at times. The characters are relatable and interesting and I think it does a good job of providing a whimsical romantic fantasy for those who want it while still being grounded in reality. As a self proclaimed music nerd I think the music is the best part of the film and the soundtrack really does blend well with each of the scenes, I won’t talk to much about the soundtrack itself because you seem to already be familiar with it. Personally I view it as a love letter to music and film of old that combines great visuals and a fantastic soundtrack to make a memorable and entertaining experience, 9.5/10
