I feel like Bungie, with Activision out of the way, now has the perfect window to bring back the patrol locations, strikes and raids from D1. Their initial vision of Destiny was a game and an experience that would build for 10 years. It would be a MASSIVE fan service, it would be a HUGE incentive to keep playing, and it would finally feel like the full package Destiny we all want.
For all I'm concerned, they could make it exclusive to people who own D1. Make the strikes an exclusive playlist called "classic" or whatever.
To those saying just play D1, it's about the development of your character, the completeness of your experience.
To those saying "WE WANT NEW CONTENT", me too! But it feels such a waste that during a 10 year experience of your character, you have to leave behind some of the most memorable content and locations.
If you agree please like this! If you disagree, I'd love to hear from you why!
Edit: Thank you all for your reactions! I never expected a post like this to go trending but it did! A lot of healthy pros and cons to this being discussed here, awesome!
I feel the general concensus is that most people do like the idea of a continuous, ever-expanding universe where you'd still have access to old locations, strikes, raids, crucible maps, etc. but at the same time, a lot of people express their (very reasonable) doubts about the technical (im)possibilities of this and the (un)willingness to pay for "old" content.
Others argue that using the old locations/strikes/raids for new content would be a good way to have a trip down memory lane that would still feel fresh. This way you'd still have the same planets and locations (the same expanding universe) but with new fresh content. An example of this would be that VoG would be used for a Shattered Throne -esque experience or (as I read somewhere) the Moon as a patrol area but with new adventures and Eris Morn as the vendor.
Let's keep the conversation going guys!

Except they have trouble just using the engine to make content. How do you expect them to shift one game into D2? They'd have to pull a Master Chief collection and just bundle the two games on one disk but they'd still be separate. Keep in mind that D1 was also built on an old iteration of their engine that is significantly less convenient to use than their current one and even the new one is a pain. They'd be essentially rebuilding the entirety of D1 in the engine just to move it forward.

1 답변Sorry but I don't see the point. D2 is going to be left behind when D3 comes out and we'll just lose all of it again anyway. I certainly don't want D3 to be an expansion for D2 either because it will be held back by all the bad design choices made in that game. D3 needs to be a fresh start in order to be able to innovate in any meaningful way.

I'd wholeheartedly support bringing D1 into D2. I'd even put money into it (realistically I don't think they'd port the entire game in for free). Hell, I'd even be okay with them removing most of the D1 weapons/items (because realistically it'd be a pain in the ass to balance them for the current game). Taking our current builds into the old areas and old raids would be fun as all hell.
....merge D1 and D2...
A few post trending about updating past locations we used to have in game or offering ideas to make Destiny overall more relevant. A new in game, Destiny Golden Age. Every past location could be brought forward with updates to the story narrative incorporating all the new and the old story elements to make one coherent and cohesive game world. The material is their, why not update all previous locations, sites and planets accounting for the story we have so far and adding to that content moving forward to be visited again. Progress forward instead of just the guardian getting pounded constantly with little or no hope of a future or like what has happened season after most season anew we have to start over almost completely and all our past haunts and gear are nothing but a memory or vaulted infusion material. All those places gone or no longer accessible to us in the game world up to now. I find that disappointing at minimum. I have wondered why the content was not something we saw with new releases from Bungie. Their is a lot of material to pull from in the game world and infrastructure we have seen in previous content releases that could be brought forward with updated story elements. As a story element in game it makes no sense for humanity to not show more progress, not to rebuild or reclaim the infrastructure of our past everything with the story narrative being incorporated and updated by Bungie. Show the human story and show positive progress taking Destiny in a direction unfortunately we have not seen so far. In the game world we can transmat, have sentient machines, travel through space like going to the corner store but site reclamation has never been incorporated into the story of any measure? In many past seasons Bungie thought it’s a positive step to have us rebuild our characters, gear or remove game world content again and again? As for in game content we have all the earth facilities seen so far, the moon facilities, really close and the other planets with all the infrastructure and we have a foot hold in the game world and story content that could be added for variety but are further limited after every update. With all the technology at humans disposal in the game world and what we can do....how hard would it be to turn on some lights, get a toilet flushing again or get the infrastructure working for the NEW golden age of Destiny . Bungie can you please show some progress from content update to content update and incorporate all past locations into whatever future Bungie intends for their game but make it aw inspiring to us as players. Many of us not streamers or not considered as ‘hardcore’ players, account for the majority of the fan base deserve some respect back for the hundreds of hours devoted to Destiny. Bungie has made some really good content in D1 and D2 for our consumption but has also made some really awful decisions over the years on occasion in game with content changes. Unnecessary economy inflation or the herding of guardians into particular activities to keep numbers high and the suits in the real world happy at the quarterly meetings.... or just bounties everywhere to collect, waisting our time instead of just allowing us to explore the world and make positive advancement on our own with choices we decide as we have time to play. Season 6 may be changing some of this from a recent update here hoping. I try to remain hopeful that Destiny will reach its potential and the vision of one continuous world instead of the mediocre changes which revert past positive steps forward that prove to be faux pas to us in the community. Since D1 kiosk taken away a while ago have now been reimagined as the collections tab which is mostly useless since you can’t pull even base rolls of new weapons which fall with random perks. If a base roll was recoverable with a chance to rework the gear different from the base roll, say once a week for a weapon or amor set this would be a nod to the community. Remember being able to order weapons from Banshee but having to wait a week. Anticipation kills but in a good way and something similar to that or what I suggested would be a step above what we have now and would make the game better for both weapons and armor. When you take away choices you take away some happiness and the lack of variety is not the best way to move forward and keep players engaged or even excited about new content on the horizon or when we lose access and diversity in past word locations. Bungie this is your game of course but if you want the most people possible to play and remain positive about the game and content to come, take steps to merge D1 and D2. Whomever is guiding this endeavor would need to be a group of people who are not like most and who are able to convince others it’s possible and the long term goal will be better than any short term gain but only if started, so it will be ready tomorrow. The effort in imagination and the end monetary gain in the real world would be huge for Bungie. Bungie is a business and is trying to make the best game possible and we have seen some awesome content over the years in pieces. As Destiny continues its course pray we see more depth in story adding to the lore and game content other than just the latest baddie to kill. As fans we try to stay loyal seeing the changes as less than positive occasionally but as fans with hundreds of hours spent playing also hope Bungie is listening and the future of Destiny is not just good but becomes epic.

1 답변Why? Don't get me wrong, D1 was fun for what it was. But it's time is over. We keep wanting to bring back old weapons, old gear, old content, and for what? We already played that stuff. Let the past stay where it's at. Why not focus on creating new things and improving the game we have now?

8 답변I said the same thing before D2 ever came out. They should of never made a D2. Just massive add on. Bungie don't care much for what the fans think though.

I've been saying this for a long time except that D2 should have been an expansion for D1 and not separate release to make us start over to resell us old content. At this point it doesn't even matter, and if guys think D3 is going to be this shiny super improved Destiny, don't get your hopes up. If you guys really think everything is just Activision's fault then you're in for a let down later. I don't buy this argument that two full releases of a game can keep suffering the same exact problems and then some new ones and everything is only Activision's fault. There shouldn't even be talks of a D3 when we can't even get our character progression in two games to matter even in the slightest. If D3 makes start over again so they can resell us Sleeper Simulant in a DLC, count me out.

1 답변The way I see it, is that D1 was billed as a 10 year evolving game. I dont see anything special in D2 that could not have been added as DLC to D1. D2 should never have been released. The content from D2 could just have been added to D1 making it the 10 year game Bungie billed. So from the offset we were lied too about the longevity of the game.

작성자: Toecutter956 2/5/2019 11:27:06 AMI still play both games vanilla destiny 1 and 2. I have never bought a DLC since D1 as i know it will all be shit you already paid for charged over the odds for! I can still have fun hopping between both vanilla games without paying extra for overpriced DLC`s and season passes for boring same old content. And locking users out of content they bought in the first year behind a paywall is like a ransom and should be illegal! I had D1 on the PS3 years ago and just got back into it, but fk if i`m paying the full price they still overcharge for it for all the DLC`s, when my old codes i already paid for are now invalid on my new system!
