Every competitive game to date moves you up in down in ranking based on wins/losses. It would make no sense for Destiny to make an exception, it wouldn’t be competitive anymore it would be quick-play 2.0. (Quick play needs more modes btw. Clash and control is getting boring)
With the matchmaking update for competitive recently I found the matches to be a lot better. In 16 matches I only lost 5, 2 of them being at a player disadvantage (4v3, 1v4 etc).
It doesn’t matter what other games do (actually, even from that angle, no other game restricts powerful weapons behind competitive). Bungie themselves said they wanted their competitive mode to be unique. The fact remains that removing point loss would greatly rejuvenate the playlist and have an overall positive effect. Lower-skilled & solo players would suddenly find a good reason to grind and play. Any way you look at it, the current system alienates the majority of the player base, which is not good for the playlist or the game as a whole, because for many, competitive is one less game mode they can’t enjoy or participate in due to arbitrary & elitist restrictions that are trivial. No one likes waiting half an hour each match, or easily losing days’ worth of play time. All of these issues would be solved. No rebuttal can deny that.
You haven’t even tried to play competitive since 2 weeks ago, which means you haven’t played with the updated matchmaking. Go play 10-20 games then come back with an informed opinion.
There’s changes that need to be made to competitive but not losing points isn’t one of them.
The fact remains you can’t have competitive without losing points/rank.
Also show me where Bungie said they want their competitive to be ”unique”.
