See, all these posts about 'having the courage to face the competitive playlist' or 'being intimidated by comp' just highlight the exact problem with offering skill-based rewards. Comp was never supposed to be about reaching a specific skill level - it was about seeing where you measured up.
I see way too many complaints about people losing Glory rank points - you SHOULD lose points if you lose a match - that's how ranking works. And nobody would care about that number, if there wasn't a minimum requirement in order to get a god gun. It's a bad idea, and it's ruined the only SBMM option we had - trading it in for a sweaty, cheater/carry/recovery-ridden nightmare...
Congrats on getting your Luna though, truly. Now you can do what everyone else did and run to QP so you can stomp average players with it...

Which proves my point that Destiny 2 MP is NOT about skill. It's all about grinding your life away for OP weapons so that you can stomp on casual gamers and then celebrate the only thing in life that you have going for you.

Agreed. At least in vanilla d2 it took more skill and was closer far far closer to a balanced multiplayer then anything we’d had up to that point (I get why people didn’t like it it didn’t feel like the destiny we knew)

I agree. Not a fan of having rewards tied to comp. for one gun a season it isn’t worth me playing. I truly just don’t like the game types. Comp should b a ranking system like u said. Destiny just doesn’t have PvP worth being taken seriously for me to even worry about the comp rankings. I miss trials. At least there was a whole set of armor and weapons to play for

I'd say the problem with losses losing you points was that at first it was a loss streak, and now above heroic, you lose more points than you would get if you had won. Yeah it's okay to lose points for losing, but losing 60 points when you only get 20 for winning really ruins the experience. At most you should lose as many points as you would have gained from winning. Otherwise it is just funneling people into the lower ranks, and the people in legend are the ones who are either skilled or match making hopped to only go up against randoms because it rarely matches people based on their glory rank.

Yeah - streaks shouldn't be a thing, either. They ONLY and NECESSARILY skew any real indication of skill that might have existed before the multiplier. If streaks weren't a thing, then people wouldn't be so rabid about losing points in a ranked playlist. It's very simple - there are already tiers built into this system. Each season, there should be a 10-game qualifier, then ONLY players from each tier should meet each other, period. That would go a REALLY long way to solving this problem...
