You might read the title and say some bs like "well it has pvp and competitive so why not..." I will address that shortly but first let me ask you something. Why out of every shooter on the market, all of which have PVP do you choose the loot shooter to be serious about pvp in? Seriously battlefield, CoD, Overwatch, everything else out as it comes to shooters is PVP based entirely. They don't have any serious PVE to focus on. Hell most of them barely have anything you could call a story anymore. All their eggs are in the pvp basket. Go there.
Now let me ask you why do you think Trials hasn't returned? Why do you think custom games haven't been seriously expanded on to at least reach Halo 2 or 3 levels which are games Bungie made 10 plus years ago and had better custom games? Why do you think when a new expansion is coming they show a bunch of story stuff, a raid teaser, a strike or two, and then maybe show off a pvp map along with a new exotic weapon or a cool armor set they want you to see? It's because the game is and should be PVE centric. It should and always will be the focus. In fact if D3 leaks are to be believed pvp might be open World only. Something I wanted since the beginning.
Stop banking on this games pvp. If that's seriously the "replayability" keeping you here you might as well quit. We have three different horde mode activities, 3 raids, 2 lairs, a dungeon and other things like the Whisper quest to replay. PVP is a fun little side activity and that's it. They made competitive with hopes of Esports but that's a joke. It will always be a joke in a lootshooter game with inherent imbalance. Play it for fun. Don't take it so seriously and whine for nerfs.
If this game didn't have pvp it would be dead 1 week after launch after the tiny PvE offering has been consumed.
PvP retains players and finding cool guns to use in PvP is the driving force of the game.
It's just sour grapes from bad PvP players.
But at the end if the day it's never going to change it's a moot point, PvP is here to stay, so deal with it ;)
Some players mainly play PvP, so all players mainly play PvP. Here's your fallacy
Going to orbit or tower is considered a PvE activity so the numbers are meaningless. My comment wasn't a fallacy. It straight up fact. But at the end of the day it's never going to change it's a moot point, PvP is here to stay, so deal with it ;)

Pvp in D1 was an afterthought... in D2 its a lingering tumor. Just because you enjoy it, does not mean that the game would be lost without it. Its horribly imbalanced, easily abused, terribly repetitive, and offers no modability. Destiny PVP is everything Halo PVP wasn't, and for many people, that also includes fun. In many people's opinions it's not fun like Halo was. Likely that's why ACTUAL DATA, shows more people will invest more time into PVE than PVP week after week. They Are desperate to find fun in the part of the game that matters. They cant have an e-sports looter shooter with terrible imbalanced character classes and weapons and it was silly for them to think they could. If they stripped characters of their custom gear and class abilities for PVP, it MIGHT be fun. Make the weapons standard, treat it like Halo, and people might have stuck around. But now they have a problem. People desperately defending their broken system, do they risk pissing those people off to make their game better, or do they let it stagnate and become the main source of their balance problems in PVE?
Yeah It may be a case of mistaken identity on this one but judging by some of your other replies ya ain’t really that much better than the rest of us here 🤷♂️
But at the end of the day it's never going to change it's a moot point, PvP is here to stay, so deal with it ;)

Yep, clearly i play -so much- of a thing I dislike that ive racked up enough of an appropriate sample size of data to maintain a , fractional* kd, that it means I'm bad at first person shooters ;D Alright kiddo. Get back to me when you've had as many years experience as I have.
