I’m posting this because I genuinely feel like I’m losing my mind playing comp. I just played a guy that was literally faster than any human being could react to. Like it was obvious this person’s console was receiving data faster than everyone else’s in the lobby.
Now I consider myself a fairly competent player. Before going and murdering my k/d for this Luna’s Howl quest I averaged around a 2.0 eff. But since I have been in comp boy oh boy the shenanigans I have seen.
Hunters have moon bounced and disappeared into orbit on Stomp33s, my shotgun will literally miss someone entirely at point blank range while simultaneously letting them kill me an instant later, my guns have stopped shooting as I’m pulling the trigger mid gunfight, unloaded Trust in faces only to watch them die a full 2 seconds later, the list goes on and on.
I say all that to say this. Bungie I swear to God on everything I love I’m not purchasing another Destiny game after this if it doesn’t have dedicated servers. I can’t... I -blam!-ing can’t do this again. I love this game. I love feeling like a space badass, but after playing Destiny since year one I still have no clue how truly good I am at this game. When I lose I’m not sure if it’s because I’m bad. And when I win I’m not sure it’s because I’m good. An individual’s connection to the host can completely alter a match that much.
I don’t have this problem in other games I know exactly how good I am in Overwatch. I know exactly how bad I am at twitchy shooters like Titanfall. You guys tried to make PvP into Overwatch, but missed because the game will never be taken seriously as an esport without having rock solid connections. Weapon and class balance not withstanding.
I know my little $60 bucks might not move the needle but I’m sure there are countless other players that feel the exact same way.

They've spend the better part of 2 decades trying to "perfect" online-matchmaking without the use of dedicated servers and they aren't going to shift gears now. They are too far behind and it would cost them money that their CEO and Activision could be spending instead. Not going to happen.

I think that you're a solid player, not just better than average if your k/d is above 1.5 and efficiency around 2.0. Mine was 1.7 in D1 but dropped to 1.2 in D2 since I stopped caring and drink heavily while playing.. I totally agree that reducing lag from crucible by forcing all players to have a maximum 50ms ping latency to an in-country dedicated server and blocking or even booting those who don't meet the minimum requirements may help. Unfortunately that may also kill off a chunk of the player base with crappy WiFi / DSL connections who just accept that crucible is a horrible lag fest most of the time. Crazy thing is, a modern games console is more than capable of being a dedicated server itself, I remember running a 16 player FPS server on an old PC with far less resources.

21 답변I don't need to explain to you why there won't be dedicated servers do I? Just in case I do, bungie aren't even remotely obligated to do this, just because we buy their product and ask for dedicated servers for 4 years, doesn't mean they will. Basically, they make money from the game and they give people what they want even if it's not in the best interest for the majority of players. Look at PvP right now, no skill based matchmaking anywhere at all because some streamers or whoever they are had a bitch about having close games because they have to play people at their skill level and they want to have fun... So they have fun all the time now, they're really good players who get matched with even the worst of players and have fun, now the vast majority get overwhelming laggy games and games that are straight up unfair for one side, you lose win streaks and now Valor progression has been almost halted as well for literally no reason at all. Combine that with the shotgun/fusion rifle meta and no special ammo economy and you get the laggy shitfest that is D2. Is it as bad as D1? Arguably, yes. In D1 lag was annoying, there were times the game would just about break from the lag but it wasn't always annoying, sometimes it was funny. Here it's just getting shot through walls, melee around corners (looking at you SC) and when you hit someone with a shotgun or something point blank as they melee, they get a special teleport lunge that ignores 2 shotgun rounds and they get a free kill. Basically, Bungie got the money and they give what some people say they want without really thinking (or caring) about how that affects 90% of the community as if we don't exist or matter. Rant over.
