Actually by how the majority typically define these things exploits and cheeses never use outside assistance. If they do they are instead classified as cheats, or hacks, because they are literally breaking the game outside of any system or developers ability to really stop.
Also there are generally accepted definitions for things like cheese, and exploit, they might not be in webster dictionary, but they are definitions all the same.
Using an incredibly lame and easy "no-effort" strategy within video gaming, or just in general. Has to be effortless, overpowered or just a purely try-hard and annoying way of "cheesing" an early win. Examples of this is Zerg rush (Starcraft) or using the Noobtube in any CoD game.
In video games, an exploit is the use of a bug or glitches, game system, rates, hit boxes, speed or level design etc. by a player to their advantage in a manner not intended by the game's designers.[1] Exploits have been classified as a form of cheating; however, the precise determination of what is or is not considered an exploit can be controversial. This debate stems from a number of factors but typically involves the argument that the issues are part of the game and require no changes or external programs to take advantage of them.[2]
And the one for exploit even specifically mentions that it does not require anything external. Though some are up in the air for whether or not they are considered a cheat.

You see here is a definition that I pulled from a wikipedia, take it with a grain of salt. It's been classified as a form of cheating and you did say that cheating requires outside sources. Again I understand your point, but the little fallacies like this might misguide others or yourself. Even though the so-called "majority" believes it to not include outside sources, the actual majority must also believe otherwise if this is true and kept unchanged on a wiki and several other sites.
I love how you only put half of the definition that i already added to my previous statement. Funny how there was another half there that specifically stated that exploits do not use external programs and such.
Also i never said that exploits were never considered cheats. I said that if they use outside things then they arent considered exploits, they being defined as cheats. Technically yes an exploit can be called a cheat, but as your definition even states, that is up for debate. What isnt is the fact that if they do incorporate outside things, they are most definitely considered a cheat. Basically an exploit never uses external things, but a cheat sometimes does.
