The weapon is actually very good.
Scout Rifles just got a really unnecessary nerf. Probably because Bungie was afraid that no one would use anything other than Nameless Midnight.
There is a major buff coming in ten days for scout rifles.

It’s very good only if chaining headshots with it is better than just using a Hand Cannon and saving your exotic slot for literally anything else. Which, at the moment, just isn’t the case. We’ll see what happens post-buff but I’m not anticipating it being particularly useful, even for things like boss dps.

작성자: TheArtist 10/7/2018 5:31:54 PMIt’s what the weapon is designed to do. To do sustained damage against bosses and mini-bosses. Plus AoE damage for crowd control. If you want to do something else, pick a different weapon. Don’t pick a hammer then complain that a screwdriver is better driving screws. Of course it is....

No it isn't. You get infinite ammo and explosions every 5 shots for extra damage. I finished the whisper mission carrying a player without warmind just using the polaris. It currently won't deal a lot of damage because of the scout rifle nerf, but it is probably the best scout rifle in the entire game. I might even say it will be one of the best primaries in the entire game after the buff.

You apparently think I don’t know what the gun does. I ground out a masterwork for it in about two hours. I brought it into crucible, gambit, strikes, and raids. I’ve used it plenty. It’s bad. Mind-numbingly bad. Bad on a scale that honetly kinda confused me as I used it, because it should have all the pieces needed to be great. But it isn’t. Because its base damage is so poor that, even without needed to stop for reloads, its continuous fire against a stationary target with a big glowing weakpoint it outclassed by literally every other scout rifle in the game, even factoring in their need to reload. Right now, it is objectively the worst weapon in the game.

It is not. How is that even possible? It deals the EXACT same amount of damage as any other scout, plus the infinite mag, plus the explosions. Your logic is flawed. And in action it also proves you wrong. It might not be a great gun at the moment (due to the bad state of scouts in the current meta) but it's definitely not a bad scout rifle.

작성자: TheArtist 10/8/2018 12:00:26 PMThen your problem is user error. Polaris Lance is basically the SR version of the infamous Fatebringer. The only way that "basically any other scout rifle in the game" is outclassing it, is if you are FAILING to land your headshots, and thus seeting up a rhythm of every 5th shot being an explosive damage shot. If you aren't doing that----then yes----you will fail to derive the benefit that the weapon is designed to give. But if you are accurate with it, you will be rewarded with one of the best sustained DPS primary weapons in the game. A triple tap SR won't out-class it....and also won't have its area-of-effect damage for mob control either. If you want an exotic that will forgive/reward body shots...then you need to go with Jade Rabbit. The only SR that will consistently outclass it in pure boss damage is Nameless Midnight with its explosive rounds. But---again---won't have the crowd control ability that Polaris Lance has.

No. I'm actually someone with 5 months of experience actually PLAYING with the weapon. Prior to the damage nerf for Forsaken, it was one of my go two weapons for solar burn strikes and adventures. But then I can consistently land my headshots with it.
