But what is an "Account Recovery"?
Maybe my mind is too fixed on the "recovery" part. But are people losing accounts?
Are they being reclaimed?
It's a really confusion topic for me. I keep seeing folks mention it but I have no clue wtf they are talking about.
My mind goes: Isn't haven't something found/recovered a good thing?

*Reads the entire string of comments* Ok! Now I know. The recovery aspect of the "name" is essentially a red herring. To my shame it worked on me. As I was bewildered. Thank you all for the clarification. On topic. Now that I know what it is. Yeah, Sony & Microsoft (& probably 10years into the future Nintendo) say doing this process is against their ToS so I'd like ot think Bungie is against it. Admittedly...this is hard to "prove" someone is guilty of doing though.

Recovering an account just means logging into somebody else account. For example if I send you my Microsoft email and password you could then "recover" my account on Xbox and proceed to acquire Luna's howl or whatever I am paying you to do.

Probably because it sounds better than "Pay me to play for you." When people hear account recovery, they (like many other confused people in this thread) think that it means to just get your account back, instead of people who take money from people to get them things they didn't rightfully earn. So, sure, maybe recovery isn't the correct term, but that's what it's called. You could argue that people should find a more accurate term, but until then, this is what it's called.

That is the established term. In the context of video games, that is what account recovery means. The definition of the word can change depending on the context it's used in, and here, it means paying someone to play for you. Sorry that offends your superior mind, but good luck changing it.

작성자: Cry 10/4/2018 11:28:48 PMYou mind showing me which part of the CoC I'm infringing? All I've done is give you a link to a site, which I have no affiliation with, to back my argument. Images, as I've removed the links as per your suggestion. https://imgur.com/a/bTaxwCy

Appreciate the thought, but my posting of the links wouldn't have been against either of those. 5 is about leaking content, usually through datamining or looking through the game's files, which is a different thing. 7 would be if I was promoting the site or directing others to use the service, which I am not, quite the opposite. But you are correct, many of these sites, use other terms, like "boosting" or "carries" instead, but those terms also have other meanings. Carries usually refer to playing with the player, rather than them playing your account. And boosting (at least used to) refer to lobbies where everyone in there was helping each other towards a goal. I remember their being a quest in D1 that required a step in Crucible, not sure which, but there were people trying to set up 3v3 or Rumble matches where people would take turns getting the objective done. These sites sound like they're playing against regular players, instead of setting up special lobbies by matching each other.

Not sure where the term came from, but at least in the Destiny community, account recovery is a fairly well known term for this. For people coming from other games/communities, it might be very confusing to hear that people are against account recoveries, which is usually a good thing, but it has a different meaning in this context.
