I did run 3 characters and always got at least couple exotics every week but duplicates just like now. Didn't get a Gally or Icebreaker until 4 months into the game and Vex Mythoclast.
Honestly I agree with you. I do wish there was an activity that gave you a 50/50 chance of the new exotics like d1 did with nightfalls. Maybe not higher drop rate in the wild but in nightfalls yessir. Maybe instead of 3 strikes a week it should go back to the one hard af strike that also gives you a chance.

Oh it was repeats galore. I remember dropping 4 hard lights in one week (bit like now. Every time I beat the first bit of the raid, I get the auto rifle. I’m 5 for 5 at the moment) I didn’t drop gally until a sword kill on hard Crota dropped it for me, icebreaker I rushed home from work to buy from xur! But there were drops, there were new drops and the grind did pay off. At the moment the grind is meaningless as my rng just says no at the same time my regular buddies are dropping exotics whilst in the same activity as me.

Yea we need specific activities for exotics to drop more frequently. As for Gally my story on that was mid December I believe 16th. Got the kill on Atheon hard and two exotics dropped. RNGesus blessed me with Gallyhorn and Vex Mythoclast.

That is one hell of a drop! I got my first Suros from atheon. Took me 4 tries to get vex, then they dropped constantly. Fatebringer took months though. EP shotty took me 20 tries, but it was an activity I could grind until I got the reward, same with Templar.
