i am primarily a solo player, i have a couple friends who i play with from time to time but until i get a pc i do not have a dedicated group of friends to play with and do reset things with every week etc. i really like raiding, if it is a good raid and if the team is good enough. raids like crota and vault of glass i can’t say i was that big of a fan (and yes i have been playing since year 1) but doing wrath of the machine and king’s fall was some of the most fun i have ever had in gaming. both of those raids are absolute masterpieces in my opinion, not just that every encounter is so masterfully executed but also the design of the spaces you fight in, the aesthetics, and don’t even get me started on the score for things like the oryx boss fight and the aksis boss fight. totally flawless. usually i would have a friend or two who i would do it with, and then find the rest on lfg or scrape a group together from their friends lists, and it was fun almost every time. raids get annoying when your team just plain out sucks and you are spending hours on an encounter just because people can’t count or whatever. the amount of time i spent doing aksis challenge mode where you have to supercharge the plates because people couldn’t grasp the concept of standing in one place where you can reach it... countless hours. and don’t get me started on oryx challenge where clearly adds, counting from 3, and stepping in a circle is just such a difficult concept to grasp apparently. then there is the leviathan which i can’t really get mad at people for because you can get screwed over by the smallest things in that raid, but still i have spent hours and hours on the gauntlet and the pleasure gardens and it isn’t fun at all. im not one to leave groups when i get frustrated because i know how that screws everyone over, but that mindset has wasted me hours of gaming time doing a raid with a group that just isn’t fit for it. all in all, raiding is fun to me as a primarily solo player. from what i’ve seen of this last wish raid it is another very well done experience and i can’t wait to try it out.

You are correct raids suck

I love raids, but I haven’t been able to devote the time it takes to run them since my daughter was born. She is 2 years old now. Have not run a full raid since Wraith of the Machine. My wife was pregnant during King’s Fall so I was able to play that one a lot.

I've only done oryx and in d2 the leviathan but ran leviathan a few dozen times. I loved it. Both were challenging and fun but leviathan was a system just to et people to work with one another like gauntlet and when it ran well it felt great . oryx was a fun raid but I really wasn't a big fan of the constant damage gates between oryx himself and the sisters. It felt more like a roadblock to make sure some people on the team had touch of malice going. I'll also say I know some people have had poor experiences but guided games was how I ran leviathan the majority of the time, and it was fun. and it's sort of a proof of concept that matchmaking can work for raids. It feels great being able to help someone else out and get the mechanics down, especially if you were in their shoes before and someone helped you. As far as shooting bad guys vs solving puzzles I'm afraid we are likely go to keep leaning into mechanics first always since it is easiest to incorporate to ways to play that doesn't just make the boss yet another bullet sponge it works in tandem with the shooting to keep the experience at least semi fresh

Raids are without question the pinnacle of FPS gaming. If you are not experiencing Destiny raids you are truly missing out. I have not had a lot of time to Raid in D2 but I did a lot in D1. Some of the best experiences in gaming I’ve ever had.

Well obviously you don’t have loyal friends you play with weekly or even daily. It’s not that hard to communicate and do a Raid. Honestly it’s not much more difficult than 4 guys making call outs in PVP.

They ruin the power fantasy. My guardian doesnt feel powerful when I'm with FIVE OTHER guardians trying to coordinate where we stand and just cheesing EVERY SINGLE RAID with black hammer / black spindle / whisper of the work.

Destiny=raids

I used to when they were simple like VoG, Crota, KF, and WotM.

Last raid I loved doing was wrath of the machine. Amazing raid amazing times with Friends. Armor looked sick and weapons kicked ass. Best raid bungie made.

I love the raids. Past the first few weeks of a launch I only log on to raid with my clan. I love playing with friends. I love teaching new people the encounters. It’s the only reason I’ve stuck around for 4 years.

I absolutely love raiding, especially with people I know and enjoy playing with. Even if I’m not raiding with friends I like to raid. Even if I have already finished raid for the week I’ll do it again, and I actually like to help newer players and people that haven’t beat them yet. Honestly the only thing I enjoy more than actually raiding is going in blind to figure out the entire raid and working with my friends to solve the puzzle. Everyone likes different things, if you just wanna feel powerful running around destroying everything, by all means do so, just please don’t bitch about something that doesn’t fit your play style trying to change it. Some people actually enjoy having to think on multiple levels and be challenged mechanically and mentally.

I call myself a solo player, but I have a few buddies online who need a dumb gun sometimes and I fill that requirement, so I've done a couple of raids. no where near ready to even look at the new one.

The raids are like the main part of the dlc for me and I can't wait to die be into the last wish when I'm higher light
