As the title says the new progression system could do with a revisit, currently the way it works is:
- Flashpoint, Heroic Story, Heroic Adventure, Strikes, Crucible, Gambit, Ikora and Clan XP rewards all give +5 power items until 520 when it goes down to +1 power.
- Nightfall and Nightfall Score Challenge rewards give +5 power until 540 then +1 power after that.
- Dreaming City weeklies and Challenge rewards give +5 power until 560 then +1 power after that.
So what does this mean?
Firstly it eliminates any choice in the order you do your activities if you want to actually be rewarded, as increases are based on your average power level it's pointless doing any +1 PL activities before doing the +5 ones. If one of your clan-mates jumps on and wants to hit up strikes, tough luck if you haven't cleared the nightfall/dreaming city yet, you either lose out on power or tell them to find someone else.
Secondly it HEAVILY penalizes you if you end up having a large amount of equipment clustered around your average power, with one low item bringing that average down. You can no longer take advantage of any of the +1 power activities unless you first boost that one low piece of gear. This can lead to players falling far behind their peers based purely on the distribution of their drops rather than the effort they put in. For example if my gear is all 522+ and I have a pair of boots at around 215 dragging the average down to 521, all of my +1 gear will drop at 522 making it useless unless I luck out and find a pair of boots.
Thirdly and the biggest issue is players have wasted effort particularly this week, because none of the power level increases are explained anywhere in game. The entire system is left ambiguous with all the rewards being listed identically as "powerful engrams". Bungie needs to show the difference in game between activities that will reward +5 power and +1 power, rather than expecting us to trawl through their twitter feed, blog posts and youtube creators analysis to find the answer.
TL;DR - The tiered power system means once you hit 520 you need to do your +5 PL activities first, punishes players with specific low pieces of gear by denying them rewards and isn't properly illustrated in the UI.

3 답변dude just shut up man destiny is finally good again and this is the stupidest thing to complain about. “PLZ DONT MAKE ME DO STRIKES BEFORE DREAMING CITY” headass

You can get blues from the nightfall that drop 5 below your light level. And Bungie has always called their milestones “powerful rewards” it’s really not that difficult to understand that these rewards are clearly different than the rest. A typical player will go “ooh a powerful reward? What does that mean?” *does the activity* “oh look at that it gave me a drop way higher than everything else, I guess if I do more of these I’ll get more drops that will increase my power level” seriously that last one was such a weak argument wth

5 답변See that guys, that's the problem of the no lifers who play a game 24/7 I never ran into issues like that, because I just play a few hours a week and also play other games. That way, you don't get burned out that quick and enjoy the given content way more. Just get out of your sweaty pants and put on the chill shorts ;)

7 답변Coupled to an overcosted infusion system, the light level system is just outright bad. Honestly, it probably should just have been removed from the game, but should certainly not be the tedious mess it is now. Especially with how the game tends to march players into the Dreaming City below the environment level, the ridiculously slow grind pace is going to turn off a lot of people from actually bothering to play, especially with how poor loot drop rates are.

20 답변I don't see the problem just play the game and you'll level up it's not a race and it's not your job

9 답변Im all for the grind but Im honestly bored of the game. Its been nice for a week or so but my rewards are pretty lacklustre and samey. Im just using the game to fill in the time before a better game comes along. Its been nice to explore the new places but Im still not digging it. Its an improvement yes, but that doesnt make it good.

1 답변I didn’t even know this was a thing. That is ridiculous and better get changed as that’s one of the stupidest ideas Bungie have come up with. Powerful gear is powerful gear, let it be powerful!

2 답변Totally agree man. I've put way too many hours in this game and stalled on my leveling at around 535 on 2 characters due to a combination of problems, most of which you addressed. Also a few bugs/glitches have caused me to miss out on powerfuls including the oracle offering disappearing. I cannot express how beyond frustrating it is to be level 536, and have all of my items be over 537 except boots at 524. And then get shafted on powerful drops over and over and over again. I love actually playing the game and the content has been very fun, but I'm livid about the progression system halting my progress due to bad luck and bugs. It wouldn't be such a big deal if I didn't assumedly have to be that high level to play and complete the raid at launch. No joke, I would say I've had around 15(maybe more) powerful drops that have been worthless between 2 characters. That just should not happen.

If you want a game that’s worth your grind to where the progression system is fantastic and rewarding....try: Borderlands 2 Battle Chasers Nightwar (biggest sleeper of the year) I totally hear what your saying. The progression system is terrible and boring. Hence why I’m still hesitant on forsaken. Shame really. Have a good day Guardian

Honestly the power level progression doesn’t bother me so much as the fact that I keep getting the same duplicates over and over. The worst, however, is finally getting an exotic and having it be year 1 garbage.

2 답변I'm already burned out on this game. Progression is the one thing I was concerned about going into this dlc. Now it's the RNG super, Gambit, infusion cost, and the "vendors". I don't even care about getting to max, exptics, or the new raid. My buzz has been killed.

Yes agreed unrewarding feel.. I have been grinding non stop since Forsaken release as at first is was enjoyable raising my level steadily. I have done every powerful daily/weekly, etc twice before and after the resets. The only thing i have left to do now is the nightfall to 100k and get todays prime.f. I've got about 4 powerfuls which actually didn't raise my level as i expected them to because of RNG giving me a weapon instead of armor, and i guess also because some were only +1 powerfuls... If say these powerfuls actually did give me a boost, i would be around probably 535+ now but i am at 528. I keep seeing people higher level than me who have played less hours and content than i have have less triumph than me and it makes me salty.

This post just explained to me why, as a several thousand hour destiny lover, why I haven’t felt the desire to play this game at all. I’ve done some public events since the new release and that’s about it. Killed a couple of barons. They definitely didn’t need to go so far overboard on increasing the grind... to some extent sure. But they completely zapped the ability to play, have fun, and progress out of the game entirely.

1 답변Just take your time play whatever you like to play. Oups sorry wrong game, this game is just so boring that the only thing to do is being expert at light progression.
-
8 답변I fell into their trap again..... looked like they were fixing the game but ended with a complete botch job.... bungie is to gaming what Tim Allen was to home improvement

3 답변I don't think I'd be alone in thinking these are deliberate changes set to appease the YouTubers / Streamers so that they can make videos on how to progress and actually garner an audience. The milestones and challenges system they had in Y1 was streamlined, it was efficient and only an absolute brain-dead moron would have to jump on YouTube to see how to efficiently progress. Let's be honest here, YouTubers / Streamers needs the game to have some surprises / difficulty / challenges for players to even want to watch their content. They want the audience to rely on them to spoon feed how to play the game, because the entertainment value on watching their content is close to zero. That YouTuber summit really just turned out to be a summit on how Bungie could make YouTubers / streamers relevant. It's just a sick symbiotic relationship that spawned out this messy/grindy system.

I dont see any problems with it, its not a race, just play the game and your light level will get up, quick! I play solo 90% of the time and got to 533 yesterday, without doing the bugged milestones. If i can do it, you can do it too!
