As the title says the new progression system could do with a revisit, currently the way it works is:
- Flashpoint, Heroic Story, Heroic Adventure, Strikes, Crucible, Gambit, Ikora and Clan XP rewards all give +5 power items until 520 when it goes down to +1 power.
- Nightfall and Nightfall Score Challenge rewards give +5 power until 540 then +1 power after that.
- Dreaming City weeklies and Challenge rewards give +5 power until 560 then +1 power after that.
So what does this mean?
Firstly it eliminates any choice in the order you do your activities if you want to actually be rewarded, as increases are based on your average power level it's pointless doing any +1 PL activities before doing the +5 ones. If one of your clan-mates jumps on and wants to hit up strikes, tough luck if you haven't cleared the nightfall/dreaming city yet, you either lose out on power or tell them to find someone else.
Secondly it HEAVILY penalizes you if you end up having a large amount of equipment clustered around your average power, with one low item bringing that average down. You can no longer take advantage of any of the +1 power activities unless you first boost that one low piece of gear. This can lead to players falling far behind their peers based purely on the distribution of their drops rather than the effort they put in. For example if my gear is all 522+ and I have a pair of boots at around 215 dragging the average down to 521, all of my +1 gear will drop at 522 making it useless unless I luck out and find a pair of boots.
Thirdly and the biggest issue is players have wasted effort particularly this week, because none of the power level increases are explained anywhere in game. The entire system is left ambiguous with all the rewards being listed identically as "powerful engrams". Bungie needs to show the difference in game between activities that will reward +5 power and +1 power, rather than expecting us to trawl through their twitter feed, blog posts and youtube creators analysis to find the answer.
TL;DR - The tiered power system means once you hit 520 you need to do your +5 PL activities first, punishes players with specific low pieces of gear by denying them rewards and isn't properly illustrated in the UI.

1 답변I don’t have time to keep track of which powerful rewards are truly “powerful” and which are not. It’s disheartening to get a “powerful” reward and it be equal to or lower than most items you already have in that slot though.

1 답변I'll say this till I'm blue in the face.......INFUSING SHOULD NOT REQUIRE MASTERWORK CORES!

2 답변I don't think it eliminates choice. All powerful engrams can give at least some increase. Yes, some do get small. But you always have the prime engrams that can drop from whatever you are doing if you have the buff, thus allowing you to play whatever and still get rewarded. Not to mention exotics, rare as they are. They can drop from most mobs. I got one from a wizard this morning. Unexpected and rewarding.

4 답변You know I was actually really happy with all the opportunities for powerful gear. I was excited to see that someone like myself with no friends playing this game anymore, and that relies on matchmaking, could now level by just playing the game and the wide variety of activities. I was even contemplating using lfg or asking the clan I'm in (I personally don't know any of them) to do nightfall. Then I read your topic... I'll continue to have fun, but this is a helluva bummer. And where the hell is matchmaking for nightfall?! Seriously... we're expected to grind it, add matchmaking, just set a mandatory minimum powerlevel for matchmaking.

7 답변Before Forsaken: we need more grind. After Forsaken: we need less grind. What exactly do we want?

3 답변It's like Bungie forgot the promise from back in D1 of they'll never make a player feel as if the time they invest is wasted ever again. GG Bungie.

1 답변My only problem is that infusion requires masterwork cores. So many cores are needed, and man are they expensive.

I’ve gotten 8 edge transits I fkn hate grenade launchers Oh and my “powerful” engrams have t even been increasing my light Ffs bungie, you’ll slow our progression if it’s too fast, but you won’t make it so we don’t get shit on for our rewards? I don’t want cosmetic options or rerolled perks for my weekly milestones!!!

14 답변작성자: Art0rias26 9/13/2018 5:26:56 AMMost of the community asked for the grind to come back to make it worthwhile, not too just get max light within the first week, now we complain about too much grind, should the community rather play minecraft because it seems like no one can ever be satisfied and have anyone here played D1 even if its only from Taken King, it was prestigious if you hit max light, you could grind raids and get lower raid gear drops than your current light, it was all RNG

작성자: NerfPaladins06 9/14/2018 2:36:43 PMI just want to FIND good /powerful loot again instead of certain activities/challenges or a certsin chance via prime engrams. Also put the softcap closer to the hardcap. Honestly it should have been 550-575. Who cares if people end up lootcaving. You know what you do in loot games? You farm loot. Who cares if people level to fast and have nothing to do? It's their fault they got burned out. I'll never get why people get burned out because they leveled too fast. Go do any activity for fun or god rolls. Find and do exotic missions, ect.

12 답변lol with the current infusion costs I'll just stop playing the game once gear ups drop to +1 plenty of other games to play, this game acts like we have nothing else to do

1 답변Wait, the nightfall engrams are only +5 until 540? But the nightfall has a recommended power level of 540 and 540 is the requirement to enter guided game for it. Seems weird to have the rewards go down to +1 when you finally get to the point when you're supposed to do it.

9 답변Agreed don’t even know why they did this but I’m playing Spider-Man PS4 and having actual fun playing it unlike Destiny 2 when I grind. D1 had a fun grind D2 does not.

39 답변I wouldn't complain about the grind if it wasn't for the fact that instead of a 30 - 40 point grind, it is a 100 point grind, and on top of that, the diminishing return starts far too early, which really discourages me from trying to get a higher light until I see what the raid rewards are going to be.

1 답변So I'm curious as to how you came up with these numbers? Cause your not even close to being 540. How would you know unless you actually got and accounted for each level and every drop. And don't get me wrong I'm not knocking you or anything I just want to know how you know.. do you have some inside info that we all don't have?
