First of all, this is not a crying post, but a suggestion one. I’m really enjoying Forsaken and all it has to offer, with one complaint. I have a friend that I play Destiny 2 with on occasion. Recently, he received his third (yes, his third) Forsaken exotic for his Warlock. Thing is, I have poured over 40 hours into this expansion, and I have received absolutely zero exotics. In fact, those active in my clan have received at least one, and I play more than any of them.
I understand that exotics were made to be more rare with the release of this expansion, but I can’t help but think that there should be some formula or something that tends to favor those who put more work and time into the game. Bluntly put, I’m experiencing video game socialism at its finest.
Bungie, I don’t know if it’s possible, but I would like a change in this arena. There’s really no reason I should play for 40+ hours and receive no exotics while my friends play for less and get everything they need.
Edit:
Mathematically, time spent should contribute to overall RNG success rate. I think Destiny’s RNG is supposed to, but I haven’t seen much evidence. For example, if an item has a 10% drop rate, I should get it in 1/10 drops. Say I don’t get it in my first drop, then the ratio changes to 1/9 drops. If I don’t get it in my second drop, the ratio changes to 1/8 drops. The more I play, the better chance I should have at getting a certain item. Since two nights ago, I have probably played 30 (500 Power) strikes, all with two Fireteam Medallions on at all times by myself and another fireteam member. During those 30 (500 Power) strikes, I received countless amounts of blue drops and only a few low-power legendary drops. It is starting to look like once you get one great drop, the floodgates open and you get many more. Shouldn’t it be the other way around? Shouldn’t our chances for great drops (exotic, god-roll legendaries, etc.) decrease the more we get them? This would give players incentive to keep playing instead of burning them out before they can break any sort of ground.
Edit 2:
So, I just did the Ascendant bounty for Petra in the dreaming city with two of my clan mates, one of them being the friend I mentioned in my original post. When we turned in the bounty, two of us got one piece of legendary powerful gear, but Mr. Vegas (my lucky, exotic friend) got two exotic drops....TWO exotic drops from this Ascendant bounty. Keep in mind, this is the guy who has already received 3. I am more than happy for my friend, so this isn’t against him. My point is that it’s obviously not balanced. It seems like there is a gate on exotics so that once you get one, you’re more likely to get a ton more. But what happens if you never even get one? Bungie. 👏🏻 Fix. 👏🏻Your. 👏🏻 RNG. 👏🏻

1 답변Shiiiiiiiii.....time to wait till Xur sell forsaken exotics because I've spent dozens of hours in this dlc and I got one exotic, AND IT WAS A DUPLICATE. Destiny2 makes one step forward, then takes three steps back. Classic Bungie

1 답변Same thing here. Part of me wants to say it's just RNG, because it is. But for those of you who claim "I waited forever for gally!" Yeah, so did I. This isn't that. It's one thing to get drops that aren't what you want, like grinding for gally or random rolls. It's another to get NO drops at all. So yes, it's RNG, but it's the most annoying kind of RNG. I can deal with it, but I understand the frustration and the need for people to vent.

작성자: ken31cayman 9/12/2018 3:44:20 PMPlay less. That's my sincere advice. All the way back from the start of D1, this game's rng rewards those who play intermittently more than those who play tons of hours every day. I was one of the lucky ones back in D1 Year 1 who got Ghorn 45 days in, but you gotta play like a semi-casual to get rng on your side:) One case in point: I didn't play Escalation Protocol past the first level until shortly before Forsaken release; joined an lfg team and got the shotgun on my third boss kill. Everyone was screaming at me so I left before I got kicked:0. Haven't touched EP since, and tbh I'm pretty sure the game takes note of this. Next time I play EP the weapons will drop like flies for me. In my semi-casual play so far in Forsaken, I got another Telesto and a Lord Of Wolves. If I'd been playing 5 hours a day it's pretty likely I'd have no exotic drops. Destiny RNG is a fickle b*tch, but she wants you to draw you in and love her dearly. Play less and she'll shower you with gifts.

This super ultra rare drop rate b.s. is what I hated about D1. Nostalgia is making people think it was a good thing to never get a drop, but considering how terrible my rng has always been in this game, I despise it. Can we just find a good balance between the stupid exotic drought of D1 year 1 and the common as dirt exotic drops of D2 year 1? Because if the entire year is going to be like this, I won't be having any fun.

1 답변don't you understand that their trying to make that Gjally experience with the low drop rate. Before it was like yea another exotic. Now it will be more exciting. I have yet to get one but it will happen. Besides I'm just as excited for legendary drops for with each one it could be a god roll.

10 답변작성자: ItsRagingNova 9/10/2018 11:58:09 PMYeah I've played for easily 12+ hours a day since forsaken came out. All three of my characters are over 530 and can get higher before reset. Yet with all that I've only gotten one forsaken exotic, that's easily over 80 hours of gameplay! All to get one drop? I love this game and this expansion and I understand exotics need to be rare but come on that's a really low drop rate.

1 답변Time is not the best scale for games since a player can tape a button and go afk. Activities completed would be a better system

2 답변작성자: qTrumpWon17 9/11/2018 3:15:56 PMI think like most apps and social media websites they have formulas to encourage people to play. To us all it seems random but behind the scenes they may have some formulas that take into account how often someone plays and their likelihood of continuing to play. If someone doesn't very often, throwing them a bone (exotic) might inscentivize them to play more. Just like they have daily and weekly bounties and slowly granting access to certain activities they want to fully allow the addiction to take place. Furthermore if it knows you play with handguns or a certain gun all the time it may give you an exotic in that category if it wants to reward you or give you some useless armor to let you know exotics do indeed exist lol - This is what every company with data on you is doing. It's called gamification. It'd be ironic if Destiny didn't do it. Of course if destiny admitted this rather than just saying it's RNG people would feel like mice in a maze and get pissed. RNG to get good gear would more accurately described as formulated weighted values × RNG.

3 답변The same exact thing happened to me yesterday, was playing with my cousin and I got a new exotic, was the new arms for the warlock. That also happened to be my third exotic, on my warlock as well...

1 답변Looks like 40 hours but over 3 characters. Exotics may be account based but splitting the drop rate between three characters could be causing you to not get as much.
-
Agreed. At first exotics were like dollar store candy. Now? Bungie took the whole drop rate in the opposite direction! If playing my ass off to get one of the new exotics paid off I should have, at the very least, gotten it by now.
