Arcstrider isn't as OP as everyone thinks (in PvP)

I personally prefer nightstalker and I do just fine in both quickplay and comp. The nightstalker neutral game is, imo, superior to that of the bladedancer. The smoke is more effective all around at disorienting enemies and can be used to blind people you can't even see (or get close to). The spike nade lags just slightly behind the arc bolt because you have to throw it on a wall most of the time. The spike nades damage is very high (8 ticks to kill) and there are very few engagements in which I can't find a wall to put it on. The vanishing dodge is far better than any bladedancer dodge perk and the keen scout perk's Sprint and sneak speed will help you in ever playlist (the radar is outstanding in radar-enabled playlists). The real downside of the subclass is the super. It has a wide range and, in theory, a good debuff. There's just a few issues with this: 1. It takes waaay too long to activate both when you hit the target directly and even more so when it's on the ground. I have been killed so many times by supers that couldn't even see me yet but still killed me because I didn't have time to pre-shoot my tether (shooting your tether will sometimes save you life due to the otherwise slow activation speed). 2. (small things) you have to see the enemies to kill them, power weapons don't deal bonus damage, and you can kill yourself with the vortex at the center of the tether. But, these things aside, when the tether activates in time it can be a huge deal in comp (since most supers > tether, any 1 for 1 super trade is a good thing especially a dawnblade or sentinal <-- I try to save my super for these is applicable). [u]What I run[/u] Top tree, spike nades, bottom dodge, triple jump TLDR: bladedancer doesn't need to be nerfed, nightstalker is just as good if not better, you should be terrified of that new void bladedancer subclass Guess what?       • The neutral game for nightstalker is definitely strong, but I see 3 advantages for arcstrider: 1. Arcbolt grenade: as you mentioned, it’s a very good one. It takes away about half of multiple people’s health even behind cover. It’s very good to throw before or after shooting an enemy. I have also been killed by the cheese of throwing 2 at the same time on me by coordinated players. 2. Dodge resistance: Bottom tree arc strider gives 9% damage resistance during a dodge while other perks in the same tree increase sprint speed & regenerate dodge faster when running. Combine that with wormhusk & 50% damage resistance during super dodge spam (which stacks) & you got your self a very tanky guardian, which brings me to my last point. 3. Arcstaff super: the super arcstriders is just too good right now. It lasts a very long time, it can take a lot of damage, it can usually at least trade with other supers if not just kill them, it has very fast activation & swiping animation, it maximises sprint speed, & it gives infinite dodging. Compared to that, shadow shot is underwhelming, situational, & usually bares poor results even if successful.

        • The only OP thing I see regarding hunters is the wormhusk. It essentially gives you an extra life every time your Dodge is active. I love it, but it's not balanced at all. Regarding the supers. A buff to storm caller for Warlocka and a quicker activation time on tether for hunters would be neat (or perhaps a one shot kill with the arrow itself). I wouldn't mind seeing the vortex grenade do a bit more damage on the initial activation either.

        • ur absolutely right. The nightstalker offers alot of tactical approaches that could help u manipulate any situation to the night stalkers advantage. But most players go arc strider cuz its easy to use properly and it is great as an aggresive close range super. Almost anyone can use the super properly. I play mainly a warlock dawnblade and it is the best super for countering other supers. The top tree does not have tracking or an extra blaze on impact, and requires good timing and precision to shut down other supers. Arc strider is the easiest to counter, because i could just out range it and shoot blades from a safe distance. At least that is what i used to do. Now, i let the arc strider roll and do cart wheels just for it get close enough for a 1 blade kill.. The nightstalker poses a threat and in the hands of a good player, u do not need a super to shine. ur gun skills r enough, therefore arc strider doesn't add much value, although nightstalkers kit is alot more deadly in a skillful players control.

        • Strider is not OP, it's in a good place right now, the weak points in subclasses across all classes need to be balanced well so there are more countering options. But I don't have a hard time taking Striders down, and they don't fare well against hammers, dawnblade, golden gun, and sentinel.

        • It’s still really good. Much better than a Stormcaller at least. Their lunge is incredible, and if they are using I’m pretty sure top Tree they can shoot a OHK wave of arc energy at people with the range of Stormcaller.

          I don't want Arcstriders nerfed. I'd just like certain aspects of Warlock subclasses to be better, and I'd like glide to move me a little faster. Even with high mobility, Glide is still slow.

          Are people really saying to nerf arc strider?...I just want Bungie to make Stormcaller more viable in PvP that's all. Hunters don't need to be nerfed, just buff other classes. I've seen quite a few posts asking to fix sentinels hit detection so there's that too

            • As with all classes, Subclasses, weapons and Weapon Rolls... It’s only as OP as the user makes them. Plenty of sh!t players use the Meta and are still sh!t players.....
