I've always wondered how the awoken changed, in the pyramidion strike asher mir mentions they were transformed. But what transformed them, and for what purpose? Hopefully the new foreskin expansion and raid answer this

9 답변They were transformed during the Collapse when the Traveller pushed the Darkness out of the system, causing the humans in the Reef to be affected by the Darkness and Light, turning them into the Awoken. At least, that's how it was in D1. The whole Dreaming City being the Awoken's homeland thing probably retconned all of that though.

They were transformed from humans in some way by the Darkness. The living Awoken (unlike our Guardians) seem to have powers that are fueled by the Darkness and an....uneasy...relationship with The Light. Hopefully, The Forsaken will start to answer these questions more fully.

1 답변
What turned humans into awoken
From the "Awoken" D1 Grimoire Card: - "The others sing this song of Light and Dark. We, together, have transcended such unimaginative limitations." "It is said that the Awoken were born in the Collapse, descended from those who tried to flee its wrath. Something happened to them out on the edge of the deep black, and they were forever changed. Today many Awoken live in the distant Reef, aloof and mysterious. But others returned to Earth, where their descendants now fight for the City. Earthborn Awoken who venture out to the Reef, hoping to learn its secrets, find no special welcome from the reclusive Queen."

Those who went out to the astroid field which is so called the reef come into contact with a unknown element which could be anything but I doubt that it was the darkness as if it was that they would not be alive to this day in the destiny universe
