Bungie is just clearly not up to the task of being a triple A developer in 2018.

The world clearly moves too fast for their glacial pace. No one is going to give a shit about Destiny 2 by the time it's where it should be, if it ever even gets there. The pathetic speed at which updates are coming to Destiny 2 is the dying, choking breaths of a developer being propped up by a publisher with too much money. It's time for Bungie...to end.
Moderator edit: This thread has been moved to #Feedback forum so that other Destiny players can weigh in. • You know what's pathetic? You don't like a game so you're wishing a studio that has hundreds of employees and millions of fans who still love their game closes. This community is sickening.

    • It's a matter of opinion. Mine is that D2 is a fun game to play and great for what it is. Additionally, the planned spacing between major updates is helpful in the regard that it gives time for them to collect as much data (and opinions) as possible before nerfing or buffing. Bungie won't just roll over because of people who don't like the game. Sure, they will dump it and pick up something else; but hey, they made the money they could from those players before they jumped ship. Long story short: anything Bungie does right now will be meet with intense scrutiny. They could even give up and change everything to how the haters want and still be trashed and complained about. Further opinion: if someone doesn't like the game or want to play, they should play something else. If that someone wants to play the game but not 'in its state,' offer constructive feedback.

            • I couldn't agree more. Bungie is done as one of the big guys. They've turned themselves into a laughingstock, a basket of memes. Whoever okayed the use of their engine effectively killed bungie. If they had a functional engine they would at least be able to make timely fixes to all the countless stupid design decisions in this game.

Agreed. Player base is gone and a majority won’t come back. You sure -blam!-ed up Bungie. I guess it’s one of those “wish they could turn back time” moments. Did anyone end up getting fired? If not, I wish I could go work for them. Do -blam!- all, produce absolute shit and get high fives from the team.

              • Don't agree that Bungie should "end". However they've certainly screwed the pooch big time. Shat the bed with boiling hot magma diarrhea. Jumped out of the plane with no parachute... and so on. Changes sure aren't coming quickly enough. And thus far, they haven't been meaningful enough. Sure, we've got a big patch coming up. Furthermore it LOOKS like the most impactful one we've seen. But reading through it... still not enough. A better effort for sure, but it's likely not going to be the drastic turning point this game needs. It boggles the mind that the people who are largely responsible for the direction they took D2 haven't been relieved of their duties. They took the game in a direction that has led to ruin, and alienated a significant portion of their player base. Seems like an actionable offense to me. I would never root for people to be out of the job. Unless they -blam!-ed shit up to very large degree. And that's what happened in D2. Time to shake the tree and go a different direction. A better direction. D3 is the only thing that's going to save this franchise. D2 lacks the depth and complexity that D1 had. That's what kept D1 going, it had actual depth on alot of levels. Alot of folks don't realize that. That's why D2 has been an overall failure, because it has literally none at an accessible level. It's issues are far too deeply rooted to be corrected with a patch or DLC, or even expansion, IMO. I'd love to be proven wrong. I'd love to have a reason to pick up those sticks more often. But if I had to bet on the outcome... it'd be that the needed fixes won't come quickly enough, and Bungie won't make the fixes meaningful enough to right the ship.

I disapprove of any thread that wishes Bungie to completely die. You might see a company but there are people that depend on that company for their livelihood. If Bungie dies, so does their income. EDIT: Wow. I guess I incited quite the little sub-thread here. Trolls keep being Trolls, and those that do get it. Thank you for being Decent human beings. The world needs more people like you.

It's time for Bungie...to end.

I think our expectations move too fast for Bungie. I further think you’re conflating bad direction with bad design and that doing so is ignorant. I don’t mean that with malice. I think it’s easy to get caught up in frustration and use strong language, rife with condemnation, to the ends of striking a fatal blow to morale. Why we do this is beyond me, but it is becoming trite and boring. When I say bad direction, I am talking about slower movement speed, weaker weapons, simplified subclasses / load outs and all the “but this was in D1” complaints. Bungie mixed progression with regression and to disastrous consequences. It sucks and they’re working on it at what seems to be a snails pace. (Notice I said seems. I don’t know what it is like to program a game that works for hundreds of thousands of people and right out of the gate. I assume it isn’t easy and must be done slowly.) When I say poor design, I mean the framework of the game. Technically speaking, this game is marvelous. I dare anyone to find an expansive FPS game that looks this good and plays this well. Admittedly we have to divorce ourselves from our own biases when I say that. Gunplay and abilities feel great. Scenery and enemies look amazing. Most of the content is very well designed. Lastly, it works. Play Fortnite: Save the World and you’ll see glitches. You can instantly tell the difference between Triple A and otherwise when you play Save the World. To sum this up: I think it is fair to be critical of what Bungie is doing wrong, but do it constructively. To do so in such hateful terms is objectionable and doesn’t help anyone.

Takeaway Attendees will gain insight into running a successful community-driven games-as-a-service model. Takeaways include how best to work with a diverse, unpredictable community, how far to take transparency, how to use community feedback in a fast-paced dev cycle, what to do when decisions fail and succeed, and more. Intended Audience Independent or seasoned developers looking to embrace community-focused development. Prerequisite knowledge would be a fundamental understanding of the free-to-play market, community management, and online multiplayer gaming design.
