Is this the brand new Star Trek series that just recently came out? I watched the first episode and it's pure trash. I mean, maybe it gets better as the series goes on, but it was so bad it made me really annoyed and frustrated. Not annoyed and frustrated as in "OMG I LOVE STAR TREK HOW COULD YOU RUIN IT!?!?!?!" More in the way that it's annoying and frustrating to see your aunt that you haven't seen in 25 years. You're 40 years old, she saw you last when you were 15. And when you were 15, she treated you like you were 3. Now she still treats you like you're 3. And you're stuck there at some family event, unable to escape as she tries to tell you all about the world, teaching you how things work, talking to you like she's reading from a baby's picture book. And you know that everything she's saying is wrong, and sometimes even racist. But she's old. So you just ignore it because you know if you try to argue, she will just act hurt and all the rest of the family will get mad at you for hurting her feelings when all you wanted to do was correct her on something basic, like, hey, recycling isn't actually a giant scam run by "those people" just as an excuse to go through your trash and steal your tossed-out documents in an attempt to steal your identity and credit card numbers. So all you can do is sit there and endure it while your intelligence is being insulted, and you want to tell her all the things wrong with what she's saying but it just wouldn't matter because she is up on her high horse and thinks of you as a naive little baby who doesn't know anything and will swallow whatever BS she spits out. Which is why I much prefer visiting with Uncle Orville.
