Dude, I read your sandbox update and I noticed that you point out that weapon changes take a lot of play testing to get right.
We players have a ton of time and we love the game.
Thousands of us. Tens of thousands. More.
Why not set up a public test server that sweats can hop into and play the hell out of newly balanced or new weapons before they are released into the wild?
We can find the bugs. We can find hidden synergies that make the weapons too strong. We can find weapons that are too weak. Most importantly we can find weapons that won’t perform as expected.
Put out several versions of the same weapon to test if you want to see which changes work best.
Grenades and supers? We can test those too.
As it is we find this stuff anyway and let you know within days (hours? minutes?) of an update if there is feedback. Why not get much of the feedback before you release stuff?
Head off the salt mongers and the trolls.
Just a thought,
TBJ

1 답변But, but, but... Bungo have lots of graphs and spreadsheets and data and info and intrinsic whatevers.... I mean, you don't think they just blindly stumbled upon such an underwhelming experience, do you? It takes effort. I think... Maybe....

It's a great idea. But bungie don't like listening to the fan base. They'd rather get tips from someone like Deej who barely even plays the game. One thing that makes fornite fun is the little annoyances with each update. New weapons are added all the time and with these new weapons, it's a constant "what works, what doesn't" and they are paying attention to player feedback and they make adjustments quickly. I wish bungie done this sort of thing. It'd let us see they are actually paying attention and working.

1 답변If they weren’t even willing to change their servers from D1 to D2, instead reducing the number of players in Crucible, what makes people think they’ll set up a PTS? Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good idea. But that’s just it, it’s a good idea so the probability of Bungie implementing something like that is 0.04%.

4 답변Never Going to Happen. If it makes sense, won’t happen. If it results in increased player participation, won’t happen. If it gives us a reason to get excited and play more, won’t happen. If it restores faith in Bungie, won’t happen. Takes too much work to let us test changes: takes less work when we leave, less work to fix! Great idea, wrong studio...

4 답변작성자: Dracuur 2/16/2018 11:24:39 AMYou're treating Bungie like their as in tune with their community as Digital Extremes, your idea is great but i don't think it's an option for Bungie, it's not like they'll do a live stream talking about it will they?

I’d love to have this, but I think most devs that use sandbox test servers only push out sandbox changes that are 99% complete meaning it won’t change much if at all before being applied to the live game. I think that is because the testing in the studios is a more controlled environment thus best suited for creating a foundation for sandbox changes. On the other hand, the live testing environment is for the providing player feedback and fine tuning if deemed necessary. However, I don’t know if sandbox test servers are patched with an update done by the platforms or can be done server side like hot fixes. Feel free to say “you are talking out your ass” because I probably am.

작성자: Cornholio 2/17/2018 12:11:46 AMThis reminds me of the Bungie Beta program they had back in 2010 during the Halo days. http://halo.bungie.net/news/content.aspx?type=topnews&link=Beta_Signup This would be a good idea although I do see the possibility of leaks and spoilers coming out if too many people are let in to a beta program with unreleased guns. This could take affect their decision on this, but I have always been a fan of beta testing even if it's just pvp maps to not spoil story and rewards for players. Hope this is something that Bungie will consider. I beta tested Halo Reach I beta tested Destiny 1 Hope this will be expanded upon for all the die hard Bungie fans out there (and for the good of the game). Cheers.

In my mind, every subclass should have elements that have pros/cons. For example, give the gunslinger a beastly tripmine grenade, the arcstrider a badass melee, and the nightstalker some wicked invisibilty. Create a broad base of options that provide each player a subclass choice that caters to their play style. Imagine a Defender Titan with amazing melee game and an option to bolster the damage of the fireteam. Or, an aggressive player can use a class like stormcaller/arcstrider/striker. This is what made D1 special. Some folks were amazing at a blink strike voidwalker and rushed with CQC. Others played more passively as a bubblebro. In any event, there was something for everyone. Options are good. Balance is boring. Balance makes multiplayer dull and raids way less of a team planning effort.

8 답변No thank you. I saw the game we got from "sweats" suggested changes in D2 and it's literally everything that sucks about D2. Destiny got -blam!-ed over trying to make the game that players like TW, et al thought would let them show their "skill" (read: pub stomp for views) Destiny doesn't need public test servers. It doesn't need ultra balance. It needs to be fun and to get there all they need to do is to listen to actual feedback from EVERYONE and not just Joe Sweat getting paid to play.

You cant have test servers on console because microsoft an sony in particular need to approve each version of a game before its released. So they would need to approve every test build. It COULD work on PC except PC D2 is very different than Console D2 and the game is primarily balanced for console first.

6 답변Bungie could make the test weapons available via the Gunsmith as they have done in the past. Just release them into the wild and let us do our thing. Expire them after the reset. Keep it simple...no new server or isolating traffic or any of that.

21 답변Play testing doesn't just mean running around shooting things and saying "yeah, this is good." That's what 99.9% of people would do. Play testing involves meticulously putting the gun through numerous different scenarios, recording specific oddities or variances, intentionally trying to break the game and providing an overall, detailed analysis of it. Most people simply wouldn't be up to the task and the already enormous volume of unhelpful community feedback for various parts of the game is enough to sift through. To put these things into effect on time they need a clear direction for feedback, not being pulled in every direction imaginable.
