COD has run it's course

Because apparently trashing that game became boring and now you're here. • It’s consistently the top selling game every year. I’m personally not interested in them but they obviously have a fan base. I think it’s mainly popular with the sort of person that doesn’t usually play games. The majority of people that play COD are probably casual gamers that only buy one or two games a year. Which is fine. Some people don’t like a lot of complex mechanics or deep storytelling and 60 hour campaigns. They want to play an action packed 5 hour campaign and then shoot their friends in multiplayer. Some people want to watch a five hour Oscar nominated Martin Scorsese epic. Some people want to watch Transformers 15 and eat popcorn.

    • My thaughts
For me, I just stopped caring after MW3. I realized I never liked how the campaigns where designed and multiplayer still had upgradable perks but weapons also needed to ''level up'' was tiring and borderline restrictive. The wave defence mode was ok, felt un-polished. Black ops 1 is and was my favourite 1 and nothing else has come close to how much I enjoyed that game. Call Of Duty now a days, is just a community war whether they want Boots on the ground or being able to fly in the sky's for however long they want. Not to mention the insane implantation of Lootboxes everywhere (even in the re-master). Meh they're ok to play but nothing for me to spend my 1 brain cell on. The zombie challenges feel like they've become more absurd and the story is never ending, My head hurts just thinking about that mess these days.
I wonder what other people find enjoyable about it these days and I'm not going to criticize you because it's all opinions.

I like Infinite Warfare, I feel it gets hated on for no good reason, but I can see it's problems (Skinny Bot, invisible walls, variants pussyfooting the pay2win line pretty close (I don't believe they're huge to the point you have a monumental advantage with a variant compared to without), and a futuristic CoD with jetpacks). I think Infinity Ward is the only consistent developer of CoD, the only bad (in my opinion) game they've developed has been Ghosts (I can't stand MW3 but I put that on SHG). Treyarch can make a hell of a campaign (minus Blops 3) and Zombies, but their multiplayers generally suffer from poor balancing and bad netcode. SHG is just a bad developer, their maps are more often than not pretty bad, their campaigns are 2 for 3 on being bland (and it's only because MW3 had something to go off of), their weapon balancing has been atrocious in all 3 of their games, and third modes that feel very confused (exo zombies feels really slapped together, survival in MW3 and AW is boring to me, WWII zombies fails miserably at creating a horror element, especially compared to Treyarch's zombies, or the sheer fun factor of IW zombies). All in all, I generally think Infinity Ward has good everything, with me recommending Treyarch for campaigns and zombies, reluctant to recommend 3arc based on multiplayer. SHG just sucks, they do, Raven and SHG should switch positions, in my opinion.

        • Last one I liked was MW2. It's just become an annualised game series which I think people are getting fed up of. They need to do what they did with Assassins Creed. Just give the series a break. Make something completely different. I mean damn even Dynasty Warriors is trying to reinvent itself at this point.

          • Meh, have really enjoyed one since MW2. That said CoD will keep irking people till they stop buying it. People have said it's been dieing since forever ago and it's just about always the best selling shooter, if not #1 then in the top 5, that Durant scream "change" to the devs of players have issues. I myself can't really talk about CoDs issues as 1. I dislike first person shooters in general, there's a VERY SMALL club that are the exception. It's because I dislike fps games that I don't play most of them. 2. I haven't played a CoD game in depth since MW3 and that's what, nearly 10 years now if I had to guess? 3. I'm not invested to understand its issues. What I can say is the futuristic approach they've taken with the newer games (minus WWII) has definitely turned me off from even attempting to try them as the market is full of nothing but futuristic shooters.

Those games are awful. After playing battlefield for a few years, trying the ww2 cod was painful, like popping in a really old halo. Those games were revolutionary and very fun in their time but today they just have an unpolished and underwhelming feel. For me theres nothing any cod does that any battlefield dosent do way better. Vehicles, individual maps the size of 8-10 cod maps, variety of gameplay, greater realism. Sniping is a good example of that last one. In cod and destiny its point and click, nothing to it, but in battlefield different guns have different bullet speeds and you have to lead moving targets, and bullet drop is a factor so you have to hold over your targets too. The list of things that make battlefield better could go on and on. By comparison with what you get, i dont see how cod can charge just as much for their games.

After the old Infinity Ward got fired and formed Respawn, Treyarch is the only CoD developer that knows how to make a quality CoD game that's fun to play with loads of content. Sledgehammer, Raven Software, and Nu-Infinity Ward need to be disbanded cause all of their additions to the franchise have been dumpster fires.

          • Nah. I think people are just waiting for Treyarch's next CoD entry. Let's be real. The reaction to WWII was okay-ish, but we all know that many gamers will flip for a new Black Ops.

I only like Infinity Ward anymore, I thought Black Ops 2 and WaW were decent, can't really stand Blops 1 and 3. Sledgehammer has developed the three worst games in the series (opinion), and my 2 least favorite games. Infinity Ward's only huge misstep was Ghosts, in my opinion (I put MW3's bullshit on Sledgehammer more than Infinity Ward).

            • If anything, I kinda wish they would just translate a fair portion of the single player portion of Infinite Warfare into an entire game, instead of having Infinite Warfare look like three or four games sharing the same title. Something like Angels Fall First and Shattered Horizons having a baby, but with a AAA budget. I guess my big dream is to just try drifting onto a giant spaceship so I can proceed to go space pirate on it’s insides.
