Frankly, our present situation started when they began development of D2. There never should have been a Destiny "1" or a Destiny "2". And there shouldn't be a Destiny 3 either. They need to stick with one linear course of development until the franchise is put to rest. This does not mean the game should not be improved upon, or that we should get stuck with broken game mechanics. These things can be fixed, and old content can be phased out in a way that is consistent with the game's development and evolution over time. Even D2 could have followed a linear course if they had left us with all the old patrol zones, and found a way to make these (along with the old strikes and raids) meaningful in the new context. We should have been able to have new experiences on familiar ground. And for new players, it still could have felt like a "new" game. It just wouldn't have left everything it accomplished in D1 behind.
Instead, we are left with a promising (albeit sickly) child that is awkwardly trying to fit into its father's clothes.
When I started Destiny1 I expected a TV series, not a movie with stand alone sequels that each fundamentally altered the total experience from the ground up. I believed I would be invested in the game from beginning to end. But now, we know D2 is going to be just another title in a trilogy that seems to prop itself up on the shoulders of its predecessor, rather than standing tall and breaking ground in its own right. I really think Destiny should be a linear experiment in gaming, rather than a fragmented (and seemingly degrading) sequence of recycled content.
But please understand, I think D2 is cool in a lot of ways. I am enjoying playing it for the first time (I havn't had a chance to play up until now because of school), and I think bungie is going to improve it and possibly leave us with a game at least as fun as D1 by the end of its life. But that is the fundamental problem: D2 has a life. It will die. It will not grow and mature into something better, it will simply die and D3 will replace it, shedding all the progress and innovations that D2 will make. That's the problem. In terms of time investment and the scope of rewards earned, Destiny should not be a standalone title like halo that you can just play, shelve, and move on. Our investment should mean something, it should have a future. It should carry on into the future. But in 2020 or whenever D3 gets released, that investment will be dead.
If you agree with me, if you think Destiny should be something that changes and grows, rather than something that dies and gets replaced by an inferior child, leave a comment and a like. Rather than eververse, rolls, or any other short term problem, this is the real problem. Its the problem that got us into the problems we have now. Destiny should continue to grow, not die. Like if you dont want Destiny 2 or Destiny 3: like if you just want "Destiny"...

Seeing this kind of support is encouraging. We all know the game has problems, but we argue because we care. We know what it could be and what it is not. Bungie will probably never implement a shift in development as big as making destiny enfold like a tv series, but we can hope. Perhaps the next tag rebellion needs to be: #nodestiny3 or #2before3. Post your witty ideas below...

I don't think Bungie cares. Look at all the seemingly bad decisions. Are they bad decisions, or decisions made by a company that doesn't care about its fan base and is only concerned with maximizing profit and minimizing development expense?

5 답변I’d rather pay for something like Halo 6 , the apparently modern 2018 Cod, or finally buy a Skyrim/Dark Souls game.

작성자: zNapSack 1/18/2018 3:40:36 AMWhat game that was stated as being a ten year endeavor was/is one continuous game? Meaning one purchases the initial release (the base game) and then DLC is released periodically thereafter, for ten years? I can't think of one off the top of my head, although that's not to say they don't nor ever have existed. Even CoD for example is a series of individual games, not one continuous game with periodic DLC, although it may seem like it. ;) There are however games that have been out for some time and one can purchase the base game and all subsequent content as a package deal so to speak but none that have been out for ten years to my knowledge. Even then, that is not apparently Activision/Bungie's business model. Don't get me wrong. As many of us are Destiny players since day one the idea is enticing, no doubt. However, as a business model it would likely fail. And imagine someone coming along in say year eight and buying everything from the beginning (D1) to that point in one package or download. Although the latter wouldn't be feasible as many would not have the download capacity for it. All of that aside, it's highly unlikely they're going to change the distribution method anytime soon, if ever.

Nobody is going to care about Destiny 3 the way the franchising is going let alone Destiny 2. Everyone should do themselves a favor and just move on. There are plenty other games out there that can fill your time with a lot more fun and a lot more content. This franchise has turned into a complete joke

I was reading your post while I was at work today, on the way home while listening to the radio and heard the song below come on and I burst into laughter. It perfectly describes how Destiny Vets are feeling now. https://youtu.be/WBupia9oidU

1 답변I have returned to D1 and its much more fun despite the secondary ammo state meta dimming down the game. I wish they would just roll back D1 to when it was at its most fun. I'd be happy with that until they make major changes to D2. I wont be returning to D2, paying for DLC or ever paying a penny for micro transactions unless they change the power ammo meta considerably and reduce TTK. Actually I will never pay a penny for a micro transaction regardless. If you ever pay for a MT then YOU are the problem and MTs will be in all games for ever and never go away-don't do it, no matter how shiny the thing is!

작성자: themirror2man 1/18/2018 1:32:50 AMI visited d1 during break.... my toons didn't know me anymore and told me to leave....😳
seriously I agree that d2 is a conceptual mistake because D1 should have just continued. Even if they had to make adjustments, they cut ties with Legacy over RiO, so I'm like "whatever" with most of what Bungie says... It is about $$.
