Popular game mechanics you aren’t a fan of?

Good evening everybody! This is Aofos coming to you alive from-! From.. Er.. Celica, didn’t you say we were heading to Ikaruga? Where are we? Celica: “We’re on our way to Ikaruga, silly!” I don’t recognize this at all, though, are you sure- Celica: “Trust me, I know where we’re going! In fact, there’s a shortcut just up this way!” Take a trip to Ikaruga, they said. It’ll be fun, they said. Hire Celica as a tour guide, they said. She knows her way around, they said. Ugh, last time I listen to “they”. Looks like I’ll be walking for a while.. Oh, but don’t worry! That won’t get in the way of our not-at-all regularly scheduled programming! If I walked up to a random gamer, and asked what mechanics they’d want in a perfect game, there’d be a lot of similarities. Open world, probably. Most people like guns, so let’s throw some of those in there. Lots of gore, because people like seeing that for some reason. Fishing. Fishing is in every game, so it must be popular. But you know, I don’t think I’d like that game much. And surely, I’m not the only one. We all have at least one opinion that goes against the majority vote, and it’s those opinions this thread is about! Let’s all voice our hate for fishing! Maybe you don’t want a open world [insert franchise here] game, like everyone else, or maybe the time travel mechanic in Titanfall 2, and Dishonored 2 isn’t all that appealing to you. Maybe you don’t like fishing! I know I don’t like fishing! Tl;dr? Here’s my point! Popular game mechanics and/or ideas you dislike? My answer:
Just to be clear; I hate fishing. A lot. But besides that, I’m also not the biggest fan of open world games. Linear games (imo) just tend to have better designed areas, and often times, better stories as well.
