I prefer the double-primaries, and since changing it still wouldn't please the community, I say just keep it as is. Bungie would be pissing off less people that way.

I beg to differ, but can appreciate a different view than mine. Some people ran around with a pulse and a sidearm in D1 and some ran around with a hand cannon and a sniper...... Bungie can come up with a middle ground and maybe “mods” will play some part in that.

I can understand prefering the old system, it all simply comes down to preference and utility. I find a hand cannon and auto rifle to be more versatile than, say, a scout rifle and sidearm, or hand cannon and sniper. I always found Special weapons to only have one use and little to no middle ground on other uses.

The game got really irritating and stale when people would just load up with any meta primary( TLW,grasp,CD, Eyasluna) plus any meta secondary( 1k stare, longbow, matador, party crasher) it felt that that only way to compete with any of those was to use it right back which turns me off from a FPS really quick

That would work. The only issue/s I see with that is either: Snipers/shotguns would be horrendously overpowered again, drowning out 'basic' weapons (scouts, auto rifles, etc), leading to the same issues we had in D1 with archetype overuse. Or Snipers/shotguns would be significantly weaker than they already are, leading to further blame on Bungie over "getting it wrong". You could always say that they can be balanced to feel right regardless of application, but many have lost faith in Bungie's ability to properly balance so many weapons at once. As it currently is, I would welcome any changes, really.

Funny thing, Chris Barrett just tweeted/responded to someone saying “oh great, here we go again with snipers/fusions/shotguns”. He replied with pretty much the same thing you said, with proper balance etc. I’m definitely excited and it sounds like he wants everything to be viable and balanced, I have faith in that at least.
