The weapon systems and trees work fine. The new system has actually grown on me. I like having a far and close range option. Only issue I have with it is that the power weapons are not balanced as cluster bomb rockets are the best across the board except a couple weapons that are more specialized. I have no issue finishing any content. The skill trees actually combine several things from D1 that you couldn’t have. And besides D1 had few actual builds and the vast majority of the community used maybe half of them and used cookie cutter builds anyway. Does it such for those that used an odd combination. Yes. But for me it’s not a dealbreaker at all.

  • Thats fine if you like the weapon systems and subclass tree's. I don't, I didn't like them in the beta and after seeing my friends slightly different titan sub tree in d2, I still didn't like it. I'll stick to d1 on this one. In d1 you can have close range and far range option in it as well. Its called a hand cannon or autorifle for close, and sniper rifle for far distances. If you wanted a mid range gun for versatility you could use a scout rifle. If you needed a little more emph at range you can switch to a sniper rifle and deal that damage. That why there wasn't any problem with the with weapon system in d1 (except ammo shortages at times.) The currently change in d2 makes it more favorable for pvp, not favorable for pve. The special weapons in d1 you have that medium damage range that allows for dealing with larger groups of enemies, instead of switching straight to your power weapon and expending its precious ammo, instead of using it on a boss. With the d1 subclass trees you could pick many different builds depending on what you consider important for a raid or strike or even a nighfall. Lets say you were are doing a nightfall where you have large waves of enemies you could build your subclass to where it did AoE damage such as leaving sunspots in areas with the sunbreaker titan slowing enemy progression and causing a burning effect. If you are doing a normal strike you could and can change it to do more direct damage incinerating enemies an diminishing your super quicker with each hammer throw. You can also make a build a titan to be more tanky, to draw a boss or group of ads away from your teammates to aid them in raids. Heck you could even adjust your jump boost to long or quick boost etc.

  • Oh I know the options from both. This one is by no means perfect and I think the kinetic and energy class archetypes should vary much more widely than they do in order to facilitate more variety. But you're correct it seems more catered toward PvP than PvE. As for the subclass things you mentioned you can absolutely do those things in this game with a Titan. Those literally are what the subclass trees on Sunbreaker are built for lol. You can do the boss draw thing and tank with a Sentinal as well. With high resilience and certain exotics you can run into a group and be very tanky. Just your bubble isn't invincible as before or you can just block with the shield and create orbs. But the AI in this game doesn't seem to key in on a bubble quite as much as before. Honestly I don't even think it's the subclass but just the AI and boss design in general. Oh and the jump on Titans is exactly the same.
