How Sony Dominated A Generation
There's no way this won't spark a flame war but I thought the overall message of missteps, misperception, marketing and solid exclusives was legit enough to be worthy of a post.
He has a bunch of vids with click bait titles like "the murder of For Honor" but the info in them seems solid.

18 답변Sony's only dominated three generations so far: the 5th, 6th, and 7th. In the 8th they've partially lost out to Nintendo's Wii U. As of late though Nintendo ceased footing the bill of their winning platforms and currently are tracing a downward spiral with Switch's pathetic return to an obligation for motion-sensing and endless ports of forgettable games people have already played.

3 답변Sony won because 1) The only half decent exclusive on Xbox (Halo) died miserably and is now nothing but a pathetic shadow of its former self 2) PS upped their exclusive game big time 3) Microsoft tried to originally charge 500$ for a heap of shit Overall it’s exclusives that win console wars. The power or specs mean jack shit especially since both consoles were so evenly matched in those terms and even at that they were both outdated technology to begin with.

3 답변Its amazing what a couple hours in between conferences can do for a generation. Sony planned out their system launch the same way ms did but fortunately had the luck of seeing ms and their forced Kinect and drm get murdered first. They quickly changed plans and tried to act like they are all about the gamers.

9 답변Not gonna watch this one but it's obvious to me why MS took the massive L. -Xbone E3 reveal was an utter shit show -Forced kinect -Trying to be a media hub -The president at the time is not the god known as Phil Spencer. Former president basically didn't know gamers. -DRM Some of these aren't issues, but people love to overreact (all imo of course, so chill). Still more of an Xbox>PlayStation guy cause i enjoy the Xbox IPs more, along with the controller and the better online. But holy fvck did MS screw up.

How Sony dominated a generation. 1) Don Mattrick, 2) Always online, 3) Forced Kinect, 4) Microsoft backing games over studios, 5) Microsoft not knowing what we wanted, and trying to force tv on us, I could go on, but we all know why Sony got a head start, they already had a target audience, they knew it was about games and delivered. They do have a good machine, and lots games, but Microsoft also contributed by pushing the self destruct button imo. Before I get shot down, I own all consoles.

3 답변I think it has more to do with Microsoft's mistakes than Sony's successes. Sony's exclusives help, as well, but Microsoft really put their foot in their mouth prior to the release of the One.

4 답변Not the biggest fan of that guy but I can agree the PS4 for the most part, has had a better run up until this point. I am curious if the power that the OneX has will make things fluctuate more in the long run but who knows.

2 답변Sony only really dominated for a few reasons; -Xbone originally would force things like DRM and Kinect -Original PS4 is slightly more powerful than original Xbone -PS Plus was originally cheaper than Xbox Live ($50 a year paying yearly as opposed to $60 a year) -PS4 has/had far more notable exclusives that are rated better than Xbone (at least earlier into the lifespan) If the systems just came out in their current state, I'd probably say it's Xbone that would win because they've got better customer support and policies, despite the Slim model of the console being overall less powerful and the 4k console being $100 extra.

24 답변PS2 was huge before the Xbox ever came out, owing to the success of the PS1. Then the Xbox 360 had the RRD issue while simultaneously being inferior to the PS3 in terms of power, solidifying Sony's lead. Then the PS4 came out and it again more powerful than the Xbox One, and it was the brand most people were familiar and comfortable with, so the lead remained. Honestly, for all the -blam!- ups that Microsoft has made the Xbox One family of systems isn't doing too badly. Especially now that they're listening to the players, like getting rid of the Kinect and DRM, adding better mod support for certain games, and adding external storage before Sony. Plus, Xbox LIVE has always been better than PSN, and now the Xbox One X is more powerful than any Sony console. Maybe next generation Microsoft will win now that they've got a better foothold.

i used to support xbox since 360, but now that im older and less influenced by fanboyism, ps4 is honestly looking better. the only reason i still have xbox is because i have good friends on it and too much progress on some games

3 답변Sony felt like they did best because Xbox had no exclusives and reasons to buy it. Their games are on PC too and they look and can play better depending on your PC. Most people don't care about 4k, so the Xbox One X(such a stupid name) is kinda pointless.
