Since my separate post isn’t getting traction maybe I can add to the discussion here. What most are thinking ..but not saying. My expectations for D2 out of the gate were to receive a game that built upon all of the best parts of D1 and was then refined and polished and incorporated the improvements showcased and hyped in the D2 reveals. Not to have to wait three years to see the things made standard in game by the end of D1 to finally show back up in D2. Instead right now D2 feels like a gutted hollow knock off of its name sake. I expected to hunt for dead ghosts or something similar with a cool story or reward at the end of doing so. I expected world chests that rewarded actual loot and maybe an emblem for finding them all. I expected that even with fixed rolls on generic weapons and only generic mods for generic armor, that the activity specific armor and Weapons or activity specific mods (no there are none ... just a pipe dream) would have bonus intrinsic perks that enhanced play in the related activity. I like the token system but only for planetary NPCs. I hate it being applied to every other facet of the game. I can not tell you how disappointing it feels to finish an endgame activity and receive zero endgame activity specific rewards or to only look forward to more shaders from the Raid because we didn’t beat the final boss this week. (Edit: I also feel that the generic loot that is available from every other vender in the game should not be part of the loot pool for special events like Faction Rally, Iron Banner and whatever else comes down the pipe. It’s insulting to my time and experience to rank up IB in order to get event rewards to then get the same exact weapon and armor I just decrypted at the Cryptarch. (Personal note: Now I have personally gotten plenty of IB loot however I have friends who have not and they’ve ground right along with me in our fire team. They feel frustrated and demotivated to play) I expected that increasing in Power level would actually translate to increasing my power and defense level in activities. Instead it turns out that outside of the NF and Raid 305 is not an improvement over 265. Not to mention that I can after only a month collect a complete set of Rare quality armor and Weapons that with legendary mods will put me at 305 power. No NF, Trials, IB or Raid required. The armor and weapons from the endgame activities is by design really no different nor better than the generic armor & Weapons I had at the end of week one. I feel no desire to play the Raid or Nightfall at all. There’s no compelling reward for doing so, for spending / investing that time. And in D1 I raided nearly every night, the lack of reason to do so has killed that desire for me in D2. Worse thing is that aside from playing with my friends because it’s fun (same and only reason that kept me on D1 after 4yrs) is now the only reason to keep playing D2 after one month. I miss that Gjallahorn moment! I miss clutching a PvP match with a super that can kill a player in one hit, let alone a team. I miss wanting to Raid. Thanks Bungie for taking what made Destiny feel rewarding and sometimes frustratingly fun but most importantly special and leaving it in the past with Destiny 1. Please take this as well meaning. I loved the campaign I love the story and worlds and I love the improvements. But I’d really like you to Make Destiny Special Again! Thank you!

  • Absolutely! Make Destiny Great Again! Tonight in the IB, I pull out my hunter pole dancer with the whole enemy team on the A Flag...in D1...I was a boss cuz I used my super! In D2...GET SHUT DOWN! We need power moments in D2...not nerfy sponges.

Well put. I definitely feel let down as well especially after buying LE hardcopies for both systems and I'm already meh about the game. I have ZERO use for planetary tokens, so no desire to do events, I'm 3/13 on IB armor so far and still have lock and titan to grind for. Trials has no end all be all god weapon to bother with, and the armor is mediocre at best. After you acquire Sins, there is ZERO reason to even run the raid. I'm not down to sherpa casuals and end up with just tokens as you mentioned. The "prestige" raid is a slap in the face as there is no power cap increase and all the items are the EXACT same as basic raid with a new shader thrown on and a name change. Hopefully the PC "master race" doesn't fall victim to the Bunghole/Hactivision/Blizztard scam as us console players have. CANCEL YOUR PRE-ORDERS and thank me later. Coming from a d1 alpha player, this game isn't even worth what Gamestop gives you trade in credit for the original D1.

  • I’m hoping that once PC launches and gets its feet on the ground that we’ll see improvements across the board. I still enjoy the game but I feel underwhelmed as I’m already at 300 power and have a full set of each armor and have each weapon that’s currently available after only a month of game play. In comparison a month into Destiny 1 I had only one maybe two legendary weapons one set of mixed green, blue, and purple armor and happily grinding daily for more loot, and Xur well he was exciting he brought things I had never heard of. As opposed to D2 where each week anything Xur has brought that I could use I already had. Maybe this week will be different but then again if I can just buy it there’s no joy of discovery and therefore no excitement, no Gjallahorn moment! No fond memories of getting my first ever Badger CCL while on patrol, that had explosive rounds, zen moment and outlaw, I used that gun until I was forced to vault it with TTK. I think the idea of getting loot to drop in the wild is terrific, but I’m not a fan of the tokens and planetary venders now that I’m thinking about this more. I think it’s too much loot too quickly. Instead engrams that drop on a specific world should award loot from that specific planet’s loot pool. Tokens if kept should be rolled into a single currency and only used at the Vanguard and Faction venders to directly buy their respective Armor or weapons and be usable to buy legendary mods. Heck I even miss being able to buy and upgrade sparrows and collect ships.
