D2 Beta was "fun" for me. Seems like your are using the word "fun" as a blanket term that actuality translates to:
"I don't like change and I'm unwilling adapt. I don't want to alter my playing habits or find a new bag of tricks, in D2. I want to play D4 in 2022 the exact same way (down to weapon loadouts) that I played D1. Because we all know that the singular key to D1's success was its cool-down timers, OHK weapons and getting spawn-killed by nova bombs."
Fun with 2 primaries? Wasn't fun for me. Fun with two path skill trees? Not that fun... pretty boring if you ask me. Fun with 4v4 pvp? Nah... less people is less fun and solo players get screwed big time. Fun that everything is weaker? Hmmmm... nope. I like to feel space magical.

I agree somewhat that having two path skill trees is a hinderance. However how many actual perk loadouts to people run? Usually two at most, there were so many lackluster and albeit useless perks. While I agree that lack of options is lackluster I also agree that having actual good perks streamlined is a welcome idea.
