Tips for someone who just started fire emblem?

I picked up birthright the other day and so far I've played the main story up to chapter 9 done almost every side quest as it appears, and accidentally romanced Azura. Still pretty bad at the game though, anyone have any tips for me? Keep it spoiler free please

You should get Awakening later, imo. Btw, you should always partner units unless there's a good reason not to

Get the kid units, then play the game, no tips other than to think carefully about what moves you make, then once you beat birthrights, I highly recommend the other 2, I've beaten all 3 and revelations is the best
