What is up with new weapon system

Bungie, I played the beta for 2, but I don't understand the shift from primary secondary heavy to the new system which I don't completely remember. The old system worked fine, now I feel like I'm stuck using these primary weapons as secondary weapons and my primary is a heavy cuz it's a sub machine gun. Why the new weapon classes and also why the new weapon types? I appreciate innovation I just don't understand how this will make 2 more playable/balanced/fair/fun. It kinda bugged me and my brother is really ticked off. Thanks! speedstar

  • I hate this new weapon layout for PvP and PvE, I enjoy both now with 2 primaries with little to no difference it's going to get boring

It's only like this because Bungie is more than willing to sacrifice the uniqueness of their PvE game, for "balance" in PvP. Bungie took a unique, engaging, loot-based MMOFPS; and tore it down into a run-of-the-mill generic Sci-fi shooter, that doesn't even do "generic Sci-fi shooter" very well at all. All because Luke Smith and gang think that competitive PvP is somehow miraculously make everyone in Gaming forget about their three years worth of lies and mistakes with Destiny 1. And now their already shredded, tarnished reputation is taking more hits every day, and pre-orders are being refunded and dropping off at an ever-increasing rate. All because they want to cater to the PvP that was only ever added into Destiny as an afterthought...

        • I know I already have an unpopular opinion about it but, I think it's fine. I mostly play PvE and I don't really care that much. I think it's better because I can use a scout rifle and auto/pulse rifle which is amazing. Who needs snipers when you have a scout? I mean as long as the remove those stupid ghost bullets.... >:(

          • Its quite simple . Use your AR for close encounters, use a pulse rifle or scout for mid range to far range encounters. Save your heavy for yellow bars and big bosses. This is basically how I've always played. I'm actually one of the players that was the reason for the change. I always horded special and heavy ammo until I had no choice but to use it. So nothing has changed for me.

          • It effectively solves all of the conflict between bungie's design goals for D1 and the playerbase's complaints surrounding that during that time . Not to say people are going to like what that all resulted in but it definitely answers that issue.

            • PvE: Avoids ammo stocking for bosses. Avoids cheesing. Creates variety in raids (other than sniper/rocket). Allows mixing and matching primaries (imagine what I would give for a fatebringer and touch of malice with a sandbox tuned for more primary damage!) It promotes close range weapons. PvP No OHK weapons all he time.

              • It's better this way to be honest. The casuals are the only people that don't like the system since they're all usually bad in both pvp and pve.

                • The crucibabies get triggered if they get killed by anything that kills in faster than 5 seconds, so Bungie forced this shit loadout on PvE too. Yay! Raiding and running strikes with primaries. SO MUCH -blam!-ING FUN! PvP is killing the franchise.

                  • Fact: the new weapon system is awful. If you like it, you probably didn't play PvE in D1 (or play D1 at all).

                    I don't understand why we couldn't keep the old system for the pve and use the current system for PvP. People have been asking for the separation of Pve from PvP since d1. I assumed it was something we would see because they rebuilt the game engine. Can we assign emotes to the dpad in d2? That was another change we asked for.

                    • It's very simple. The competitive guys got tired of getting killed by Special Weapons in D1. This new system reduces the use of better weapons in order to make life easier for the Trials players and the rest of the hyper competitive crowd. It's all about leveling the playing field for PvP. Yet, these guys will attempt to put lipstick on a pig by saying how much it will benefit everyone........which it clearly doesn't.

                      • If they'd DECREASE the Time to Kill on Primaries to 0.6-0.7 compared to the 0.8-1.0 we have in D1 right now instead of INCREASING it to 1.0-1.2, this game could've been so much fun. No one would rely on Special weapons, Abilities, Supers or Teamshooting. All of those things could still be there like in Y1 without standing out like a dick in a girls shower. They'd just be there for variety and fun instead of being crutches to overcome the insanely inconsistent and slow Primaries to the point you have to remove them altogether like in D2. Suros Regime back in Y1 was awesome as a Primary. Hawkmoon was awesome, Red Death was awesome, Hopscotch was awesome. Even TLW was awesome, it just needed the damage fix. The only two weapons that needed a slight nerf were the Vanilla Vex and Thorn after the first patch. If all those guns would get their high times back, you could revert all Special nerfs. Sadly, no one thinks about this. They only see the current crap Sticky/IB/Sidearm/ Ability Meta and Bungle desperately tries to fix this Meta with removing literally every fun out of PvP...and as we all know they're unable to separate PvP from PvE which result in overall nerfs to PvE too. Now we have to deal with the most boring PvP Meta that ever arose in Destiny and PvE will also be bland and slow paced.

                        • Gamers cried for over a years about having primaries buffed so they can compete, but since the sandbox doesn't play their own game and doesn't know what the word buff means. Their way of dealing with it instead of actually doing their job and adjusting weapons. Was to go to the extreme and create not 1 but 2 primary slots as solving the buff primary weapons to compete problem. What company builds their entire game base off of primaries? This is logic at it's best...

                          • Wait so D2 beta pve was boring But when we had to huddle in a corner with ice breaker for 5-10 minutes shooting a boss that was fun. Or when we wouldn't start an engagement because we were waiting for 5 minutes for a heavy synth to recharge? Or when we would purposefully wipe over and over again because we had to do ammo runs and hope enemies dropped special or heavy ammo. That was fun?

                            • The reason for the change was that they could never balance out shotguns and snipers to not be op in crucible. To fix that they limited that ammo by putting it in the slot with the heavies but they didn't want to leave players with only two weapons. So they gave us another primary but to balance out the damage need they put elemental damage on that second primary allowing for a player to have all three damage types again. And with two primary slots they needed more options so they created the smg to cover very close range combat.

                              • It's called taking feedback then going to an extreme instead of fine tuning what was so much fun in year 1. Cramming special weapons into the heavy slot and calling them "power" weapons is the worst idea ever IMO. Then making all playlists 4 vs 4 with no Rumble is going to kill PVP for solo players. This is their way to decide for us how we play their game. Shame on you who prefer to play solo. You need to find a team now or get wrecked. 🙈🙈💩💩💩💩🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼🖕🏼
