Biblical accounts generally portray Canaanites as the arch-enemies of early Israelites, who eventually conquered Canaanite territory and either exterminated or subjugated its people.
Archaeologists, however, identify the Canaanites as a collection of tribes of varying ethnicities that appears in the Levant around the beginning of the second millennia B.C. Over the centuries, they were at various times independent city-states or client states under Egyptian control, and their presence is recorded in letters from Bronze Age rulers in Egypt, Anatolia, Babylon, and elsewhere in the region.
Despite massive cultural and political upheaval in the eastern Mediterranean at the end of the Bronze Age in the 12th century B.C., Canaanite presence persisted in the region, most notably in powerful port cities along the coast, where they were known to the Greeks as Phoenicians.
No archaeological evidence for the widespread destruction of Canaanite settlements described in the Bible has yet been identified, and many scholars believe that the Israelites, who appear around the beginning of the Iron Age, may have originally been Canaanites.
How does this make it a false story?
Biblical accounts generally portray Canaanites as the arch-enemies of early Israelites, who eventually conquered Canaanite territory and either exterminated or subjugated its people. Drive out =/= wipe out Numbers 33:55 "'But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the land, those you allow to remain will become barbs in your eyes and thorns in your sides. They will give you trouble in the land where you will live." It was as warning against leaving any Caananites around to live in the same area, for they would always be luring the Israelites to false gods and false teachings. Something which was repeated multiple times throughout the old testament. Despite a long campaign against the inhabitants of Canaan, there remained several pockets of Canaanites in Israel after the land had been divided among the twelve tribes (Judges 1:27–36).
27 But Manasseh did not drive out the people of Beth Shan or Taanach or Dor or Ibleam or Megiddo and their surrounding settlements, for the Canaanites were determined to live in that land. 28 When Israel became strong, they pressed the Canaanites into forced labor but never drove them out completely. 29 Nor did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites living in Gezer, but the Canaanites continued to live there among them. 30 Neither did Zebulun drive out the Canaanites living in Kitron or Nahalol, so these Canaanites lived among them, but Zebulun did subject them to forced labor. 31 Nor did Asher drive out those living in Akko or Sidon or Ahlab or Akzib or Helbah or Aphek or Rehob. 32 The Asherites lived among the Canaanite inhabitants of the land because they did not drive them out. 33 Neither did Naphtali drive out those living in Beth Shemesh or Beth Anath; but the Naphtalites too lived among the Canaanite inhabitants of the land, and those living in Beth Shemesh and Beth Anath became forced laborers for them. 34 The Amorites confined the Danites to the hill country, not allowing them to come down into the plain. 35 And the Amorites were determined also to hold out in Mount Heres, Aijalon and Shaalbim, but when the power of the tribes of Joseph increased, they too were pressed into forced labor. 36 The boundary of the Amorites was from Scorpion Pass to Sela and beyond.
Some of the Canaanites who remained in Israel were pressed into forced labor, but many strongholds remained in the land. The partial obedience of Israel, resulting in these Canaanite citadels, caused much trouble throughout the time of the Judges. The “land of Canaan” occupied the same area that is occupied by modern Lebanon and Israel, plus parts of Jordan and Syria. So since they weren't "DESTROYED", of course they would have descendants in that part of the world. If anything, the National Geographic story confirms what the Bible says on this.

It is written so because it is through figurative stories that lessons and teachings best resound within the audience. Add to this the fact that it uses very old contemporary stories/events alongside very old language culture and its easy to see where you have gone wrong. Its plausible that many stories in the bible did not occur in real life, just as your very own childhood stories were not. The similarity between childhood stories and the bible is that they teach lessons. You have totally ignored the lesson and taken apart the story. You have a very shallow understanding indeed.

Umm except Canaan was not said to be completely destroyed in the Bible. Pretty sure what actually happened us the Israelites assimilated into Canaanite culture, fraternizing and doing business with them, until the two nations were thoroughly joined. They did this in spite of pleas from their God not to do so. Eventually the nation of Israel was conquered by Babylon for decades, and the God had all but left them, so when they were eventually released from Babylonian captivity they preassigned like wildfire into various nations and cultures.

1 답변작성자: pValue2010 7/29/2017 8:02:04 PMIf a source has some factual information, that doesn't mean all of what it says is true. Otherwise there is a man who got bitten by a radioactive spider swinging through the skies of New York, since New York is real, and the story of Spider-Man includes New York. Regardless, the Bible is clearly false to anyone who values truth.

Maybe some groups that weren't "Canaanite" by strict definition were recorded as such in the bible. I have no idea. All I know is if you really want to know for sure you need to study scholars that can read the original languages. If you just take everything you read in the bible at a modern face value interpretation, seeming contradictions will emerge
