Those subclasses are not canonically separate from the Traveller. One of the first Guardians, Lord Timur, was a Stormcaller, his power still came from the Traveller. Sunbreakers also predate the City and were one of the first Titan orders. They still require Light, it's even made clear in the Sunbreaker mission. Ouros states that a Sunbreaker does not bow to any will but the Light. She even states that the Tiran must prove that they are one with the Light to learn to be a Sunbreaker.
The Light doesn't only refer to the Traveler. It's like how Star Wars will be about serving the Force itself instead of solely the light or the dark sides. You'll see in The Last Jedi.

 • Light is nothing like the Force. Destiny lore makes it very clear that Guardians wield the Light of the Traveller. The Light is the 'magic' of the Traveller/Sky, just as Darkness is the 'magic' of the Deep/Darkness. Even the worms gods and Oryx refer to the Light as being from the Traveller - the divine presence of the Sky. Crota was sent to destroy the last of the Light - the Traveller. Sunbreakers and Stormcallers predate our Guardian by hundreds of years. Many of the first Guardians were Sunbreakers and Stormcallers. They are not new abilities, they have been with Guardians since before the City was created. Let's look at the description for Hammer of Sol
Forge your Light into a raging inferno of Solar energy, and pull forth a blazing hammer from the fire
Forge your Light... Now let's look at Stormtrance
Focus your Light to call forth a powerful Arc storm, and siphon it, channeling lightning through your fingertips to send it surging between your targets
Focus your Light... A Guardian needs Light to summon Hammer of Sol and Stormtrance.
The stormcaller missions specifically say that you get your stormcaller light from the Conductive Mind. Completely contradicting what you just said. There are other sources of light. That's where you get the stormcaller potential. You can argue all your mental gymnastics all you want. There are plot holes. There are inconsistencies.

 • The Traveller is the divine presence of the Sky, let that sink in for a while. That's right, the Traveller is divine. The term Sky and Traveller are used interchangeably just as the Deep and Darkness are. There is a reason why Light (proper noun) is capitalised, it is a singular force and refers to the 'magic' of the Traveller/Sky. The Traveller is the Last of the Light, and that is why the Deep/Darkness wants to destroy it. This was established from the very start of Destiny. The Stormcaller mission does not state that you destroy the Conductive Mind to claim it's Light. Nor is it the mission that you actually learn the Stormcaller abilities. As I said, Lord Timur, one of the very first Guardians/Risen, was a Stormcaller, these abilities are not new. They are hundreds of years old. Stormcaller, just like Sunbreaker, is an advanced class that most Warlocks are not powerful or skilful enough to learn. There is nothing in the lore of Destiny that even hints of other sources of Light. All throughout Destiny Light is described as being from the Traveller. Such as Oryx sending Crota to destroy the last of the Light. Even the Gift Mast around Harmony, a monument made from the polar jet of a black-hole, as being filled with the Light of the Traveller. Guardians were resurrected by the Traveller's Light to wield its Light as a weapon. It's made very clear throughout the lore that Guardians wield the Light of the Traveller. There is no plot hole, that is why we lose the so called TTK subclasses when the Traveller is caged, they are powered by a Guardian wielding the Traveller's Light in the form of Arc, Solar, or Void Light to create lightning, fire, or void.

So far, it's an average of 3.5.

 • You weren't resurrected with the ability to wield arc light as a warlock. Hence the reason why we run from storm to storm charging ourself with Arc energy and then using our light to create arc bursts. You know, like what the subclass description states?
