Destiny feels like it's run out of steam
It's hard for me to be excited about Destiny 2 because all i see is what could have been. An rpg shooter is not particularly inclined towards a vertical progression (leveling up) which is why I'm glad Destiny doesn't have much of a grind to the top. However, it should have a lot of horizontal progression (acquiring lots of options), and this is where i feel it had failed.
Destiny started with a modest array of weapon classes. We had 4 primaries, 3 special, and 2 heavies. In the last three years they've added only three new ones, two of which are in D2. There are plenty of new weapon types that could be added, inspired by both weapons in the game itself or inspired by other games. Where are the laser weapons, fallen inspired tracking plasma, energy cannons, or even a bow (non super). It wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the fact each category of weapon available only has a couple of distinct variants.
My biggest piece of beta feedback is that the double primary system really kills build variety and makes a game already lacking in diversity feel even more claustrophobic. Lumping all the other weapons as power weapons is discouraging, as a shotgun should not be as strong as rocket launcher. Honestly they make all three slots open to any weapon and encourage build variety using ammo availability.
The second big loss is the lack of new classes. I had hoped with Destiny 2 we'd get new classes to replace our stand beside the existing ones. When i saw they weren't changing i thought surely there would be new subclasses. But then imagine my disappointment when i saw that while that might have new names, the classes hadn't really with two small exceptions. Self rez warlock is now flame hammer titan warlock, and the void titan can be used offensively. Additionally each class gained a new function like making a wall or the ability to dodge, which are nice touches to the classes.
Finally, the enemies have had some updates, but overall it looks like we're still facing the same four races with only some minor updates. I know bungie says they are holding things close to chest so as not to spoil things, but honestly i get the feeling it is more to show how little has been changed or added. I know things could be different in the full game, but in my experience what you see is what you get and I'm not seeing a whole lot to change my mind.

Its why runaway hype almost always leads to widespread disappointment....and why DeeJ is almost obsessive about managing player expectations around here. At the end of the day we are still the same Guardians....fighting in the same war against the same enemies that we were in Destiny 1. George Lucas didn't create an entirealy new universe in going from Star Wars to The Empire Strikes Back. He simply continued the story he had started with Star Wars. But people set themselves up for disappointment when they "expect" to have their minds blown....instead of just expect to have fun. I'm nearly 50 years old...and I can count on my fingers the number of times that I've had any sort of genuinely "mind-blowring" experience in entertainment. They are simply that rare.

작성자: wickedwahine808 7/25/2017 6:58:49 AMIt was ok, not expecting a brand new franchise, should have left what worked well alone though. What killed me was the music during vex boss fight, might play a Bungie game without the music for the very first time in over a decade, sounded like a midi track to a platform game from the 90's with Destiny melodies, Sonic vs. Dr. Robotnik... Ouch! Bring back some musical creativity, all I heard so far were beautifully generic epic trailer music, pieces with heavy Halo undertones (can keep that though ;), and that midi stuff. Edit: I heard Skye Lewin mention he doesn't want the music to tell the player how to feel, but at least it should give us a hint. BTW, music SHOULD drive a lot of your emotions in game, just like the story, if it's any good.

Bungie has to walk a fine line, truth be told. they need to make the game new and different, so it's regarded as a sequel. But they don't want to alienate all the die-hards out there, who have played this game for close to three years and like it a certain way. I am seeing complaints going both ways (Too different! Too similar!), verifying the impossibility of this task. The plot they chose is an example of this. In the original, the Cabal seemed less like true bad guys and more like an additional alien race thrown in just to give us one more type of enemy to shoot at. Our war with them made no sense on the surface, but the lore explained that we were their real targets, they just picked a fight with the Hive and the Vex as a means to that end. Maybe in D2, we'll find out why they hate us so much. In other words, it'll be different, but also sort of the same. The subclasses, ditto. Striker's been modded so that it's no longer one-and-done. Defender/Sentinel has gotten some offensive capabilities. Bladedancer/Arcstrider... well stealth's been swaped out for acrobatics. Gunslinger seems to have been defanged a bit, and Voidwalker's been altered. Dawnblade and Sentinel are the ones that really seem most new. But, even they don't wander too far. A D1 player, introduced to D2, would have no trouble recognizing it as a sequel. Because I loved Destiny, I personally have no issue with this. Finally, consider this: changing the much-loved formula too much brings risk. If you significantly change the game, some of your stalwarts might not like the change, and might walk away. This actually happened with me, and not even with something introduced in D2: I chose not to preorder because of a change Bungie made to D1, in what I assume was an effort to ease the transition to D2. I'm far from the only one to distance myself, given some of the posts I've seen. Bungie could find themselves in the unenviable position of the dog in the old fable, the one who lost the bone he had trying to get the bone he thought he saw down in the water. Time will tell.

4 답변it's funny to me when i see these long ass posts just full of opinionated statements about a game that isn't even out yet. I mean you just wasted like 10 minutes about writing about stuff we don't really understand how it will all work in the full game. It's just a beta bro, we got like 1 one-hundredths of the game, possibly even less.

1 답변Lot of that's true. Though honestly, the "fighter-thief-mage" triad has been a limiting factor in many games. And remember how upset many players are at D2 actually being DIFFERENT from D1. Bungie really has a fine line to follow: keep it similar enough that D1 players like it, but new enough that it feels like a sequel. As for weapons, we did get new ones: grenade launcher, SMG's, and a minigun to start, not to mention a staff and a weaponized shield. I consider that a good start, especially since some of the new arrivals are similar to ideas I proposed awhile back [here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/217511361]

I was hoping for a new caracter and some new enemies . Dont know how other companies do that, i also play warframe , compared to Destiny there is an overkill of caracters you can play with. Maybe they are planning on doing it later on , i dont know but we are playing with our three caracters for a long time now , so some real change is about due isnt it. But i dont get my hopes up that much.
