currently having a great time on destiny 1. i guess i'm able to appreciate it more when i stop and accept that this game will fall off the face of the earth in a few months. i really, really wish it had turned out better in the end but now? i don't care about sidearms anymore. i don't care about stickies. ice breakers. garrison skating. slide shoulder charge. i have stopped being so excited for destiny 2 and thought: wow, i'm really going to miss having sniper ammo for my perfect her benevolence. i'm really going to miss using the last word, as terrible of a gun as it is. i'm going to miss using swords. i'm going to miss having abilities, even though they shouldn't be as abundant as they are.
in all honesty i played the beta for the first couple days and had a great time, but then i got back on destiny and remembered everything i would be missing. how, while imbalanced and broken, fun this game is. now i'm not looking forward to destiny 2. i'm going to get my last few days worth of playtime and then i'm really going to miss this game, as crazy as it sounds.
After playing the beta, I have a renewed appreciation for Destiny 1. The beta for D2 felt like a major downgrade.
Movement was sluggish, and ironically, lowering the Mobility stat makes your jump faster.
The abilities are all weak, and take an absurdly long time to charge. It should have been one or the other, not both. Whoever was in charge of that illogical decision deserves 20 slaps, fronthand and backhand.
This ties into the above paragraph, but Dawnblade and Gunslinger's Supers and abilities are incredibly underwhelming. The damage output and duration for both Golden Gun and Daybrake are far too small, and the ridiculous downward curve of the Daybrake projectiles makes it pointless to use in the air unless you're almost right above the enemy.
The Winged Sun perk on Dawnblade is broken. While it allows you to throw Grenades, and fire your weapon, while Gliding, hitting anything with your gun while Gliding is almost impossible. The weapon accuracy and hit detection drop significantly. In turn, it also makes the Heat Rises perk--which grants Grenade and melee energy on airborne kills--useless. Would it have killed them to add in an Icarus effect to Winged Sun? Geez.
Guns feel weak, for the most part, in both PvE and PvP. Especially the scout rifle, submachine gun, and Grenade Launcher.
Going back to Destiny 1 was refreshing. Abilities charge fast, and are reliably lethal when you need them, but weapons were strong enough that you don't need to rely on your abilities all that much.
At this point, Destiny 1 seems more enticing. They're gonna have to step their game up with the full game of Destiny 2. It's gonna need massive improvements if they want more players onboard.
I was because I needed some things on the book....then I just felt it would actually be too hard to do (not as in difficult) knowing the game has less than 2 weeks left.
Yup me! I actually played no destiny for 5 days after trying the beta for 10mins. Then I played destiny 1 and was like sweet game! The thing is tho we are not at max light or anything so we are weak ass guardians. The reason I play destiny is to feel like a badass and crush things. After a hard day of work that helps. Destiny 2 beta is the opposite of crushing things. I feel so weak. In pve I can't even snipe snipers back because I don't have ammo to do it. If Im being sniped I should be able to snipe back in pve. I preordered the game and I am angry 😡
I jumped in D1 Crucible a couple of times just to feel the difference. Jeez I never knew it was such a laggy mess! Handcannons, MIDA and Icebreakers everywhere, spawning next to enemy teams and Captain Redbar and his Shitconnection Commando's.
Still it can be fun and there are good moments when you get to chuck multiple Nova Bombs in a match.
