I don't see the point in either vegetarianism or veganism. If you want to be on the moral high ground about the meat industry, just eat locally-sourced, free-range meat and poultry. The argument about 'killing things' is not much of an argument in my opinion. If you want to be a vegetarian then go ahead but, unless your reasoning for doing so is "I just don't like meat" or "it's cheaper" or "it's healthier for me because xyz" I'm not really gonna respect you for it. A selfish reason is better than a bullshit reason.

I've eaten vegetarian for about 15 years. Not for any other reason than it made my body feel better. I tried the vegan thing for a few months but ultimately caved on account of convenience and liking pizza. Meat eaters don't offend me, even when they talk about how much they enjoy it.
