TL;DR: Met and played with the guy who has the #2 elo in the world. He was a d***. Don't be that guy....
...And I see why I people hate "tryhards" or a majority of them so much.
I was just playing a strike for bounties looking for my god roll LDR, and I got a message from one of the people I've played Trials with a couple of times inviting me to play 6v6 elimination private matches. It sounded pretty fun to me so I said I'm in, joined, and get into a party full of about 8-10 people. One of them was "that tryhard", and I could tell from the start. We only had four people, and the tryhard put it on skirmish, so I was confused at first but decided to just say screw it it'll be fun.
Then the tryhard, as we're loading into the game says, "alright no exotics, no luck in the chamber, no sidearms, and no no land. And no duplicate classes either". If anyone is confused, to my knowledge, those are the current rules for sweats or competitive play in Destiny. Except the no No Land Beyond and no Sidearm rules, I don't remember ever hearing those implemented. Jokingly I responded "Wtf hell no I'm using whatever the **** I want, this ain't no sweat." He responds with "bro those are the rules there's rules in this game, you gotta play by the rules". I said, joking again "Bro there is no rules whatsoever right now, I got a message inviting me to 6v6 elimination, not 4v4 sweats."
Eventually the match started and somewhere throughout the argument he starts going on a rant about how if you use this and that and whatever else then you suck. Especially sidearms. So I bring up how one of my favorite streamers and people in general in this community, TrueVanguard, loves sidearms and how he's one of the best of the best and that it's undeniable that he's one of the best because it shows in his gameplay and how often he makes crazy plays. And then one of his buddies makes the comment "dude I hope you know you're talking to number two in the world man." And the tryhard, number 2 himself, responds with "bro you think streamers are good but most of them aren't, most of them are really bad. A lot of the really big streamers are bad.".
Here's the things I have a problem with:
1) This guy's sense of entitlement has flown out of the window, past the clouds, into space, all the way to friggin Pluto. Just because you're ELO is the 2nd highest in the world doesn't mean you're automatically in control of everyone you play with and that everyone has to follow what you say. Hell, there were a few other people in there ignoring him and using exotics and whatever else they wanted to. We get it kid, your ELO is high and you're good at the game, cool, that doesn't make you the holy one that everyone should rally around, protect, and serve. Because I could give two ****s what your ELO is.
2) Why was it even necessary to bring up that this kid was second in the world in the first place? His buddy stepped in and announced it as if I was going to all of a sudden have a ton of respect for the guy, bow down, and apologize. I get it, you've strived for what you've achieved and you've done it, you're high on the leaderboards and one of the best players in the world on paper, good for you. But if you think that that's going to make me just have some sort of automatic respect for you like you're some sort of god or roll model, then you can **** right off. Especially when you're a jerk like this guy was. And I have even less respect for the type of people who will rally around people like this guy just because of his stats on paper.
3) True Vanguard isn't that good? Are you kidding me? A lot of the top streamers and YouTubers aren't that good? Are you kidding me? The reason why I have a problem with this should be self explanatory. To say something like that is just ridiculous. These people play video games for a reason, people watch them not only because they're entertaining or fun to watch, they're awesome at the game. And I hope he wasn't including streamers that aren't mainly PvP players in his list of "top streamers" who aren't that good. Or even the streamers who're obviously not good at PvP. We're talking about PvP, therefore the top PvP players who stream should be the only ones in your list.
We're talking people like TrueVanguard, Hush, nKuch (and any other Primal members), RealKraftyy, Luminosity, and others alike. These are the people who simply dominate in public matches, consistently play sweats and stream it for a living, and carry people Flawless to the lighthouse whether the people they carry be good, decent, bad, or absolutely horrible at the game. All of these things take a high level of skill to do. Are all of these things totally different worlds? Yes, however, that doesn't mean they simply aren't that good because they aren't the absolute best at everything possible.
(Incoming random sports reference) Are Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, Demarcus Cousins, Kyrie Irving, Odell Beckham Jr, Tom Brady, Richard Sherman, etc. just not good because they can't play whatever position they want whenever they want and be the absolute best at whatever they decide to do whenever they decide to do it? No, that makes no sense. They are some of the best at what they do and that makes them some of the best period.
The basic point is this. If you're striving to be one of the best, cool, good for you. If you get to be one of the best, cool, good for you. That's awesome and I'm sure you're proud, and you should be. But don't be an ***hole about it. Stay humble and don't expect everyone to bow down and follow you just because you made it. You look like a **** when you act like that.
Edit: Sooooo, trending, that's cool. Gonna just let this post ride out now though and stop responding to people. Probably makes me look like the female genitals to whoever wants to argue with me but whatever. It's cool, I can't control it. Just remember, don't be #2 and have a good day.

5 답변After reading this I can say, "so I ran into that guy green with envy." You just wrote a novel about some guy who wanted to play under fun rules, and was the second best player in the world. He seemed pretty cool to me from what I heard. You sounded like you were mad at him for being better. Sorry, if you're looking for high fives, not gonna get them here. Jealousy is a sin

2 답변Boogie is a real good sport, I'll hand him that. He got played pretty hard with that trade to New Orleans, all in the name of business, and he isn't acting like a fool about it.

So..... streamers, tryhards, wannabe's and d*ck riders, i say this: THIS IS A CASUAL GAME. IT WILL NEVER HAVE A RESPECTED MLG STATUS. Its laughable that you think that this game is balanced enough, even with the try-hard's "rules", that it could EVER be a truly competitive environmet. You can literally EMOTE DANCE whenever you want in this game. Thats right. You can Dab, Carlton, Elaine, Slow Clap, etc.... and you can actually use some dances to dodge bullets! Not to mention that you can literally sit down, do nothing and STILL get a super 4 minutes later.... This game is casual, bruhs. Being the best at Destiny is like being the best at checkers: nobody cares!

14 답변I hate to burst your bubble, but true vanguard indeed isn't very good compared to most "competitive" players. Have you watched the stream where they showed supremacy for the first time, and seen how TV did? And please don't give me that crap that he was playing a support role; I'm pretty sure he played defender with a fusion rifle on purpose so he had an excuse. Also no land has been banned from sweats since the beginning, and sidearms are banned in the next tourney but nobody used them in sweats anyway.

4 답변If he's so good, he should be able to compete with you no matter what your loadout is.

3 답변Nice post. Couldn't agree more.. My son is 11, he's been a stud since he was 9. Amazing player, whether its Destiny, CoD, or R6. Anyway, You can look at my stats, I have a bunch of flawless runs, that's getting carried by my son. I'm not bad at all, but I"m a role player. Anyway, we matched up against "those guys", not going to name any names, but they were streaming and immediately, started Tbagging from the first kill. My son went on a rampage and we destroyed them. (well, at least he destroyed them... :D ) The third player in our group was watching their stream as we played and they were trashing us as they got ahead 3-0. When we came back and won, my friend posted "you just got wrecked by a 9 year old", they booted him from their stream. Another time, my son and I matched up with a high profile players clan in 6v6 and my son led the room 5 out of 6 rounds. Several of the others were trashing him in their stream, but the leader actually was classy and said gg etc... Not all people are bad, but man, the ones that are suck.

That's why I never want to be those dudes who like to brag or go insane for attempting to go "top". Bad luck or consequences happen if you go that path... I know it likely happens to all of us when playing PVP stuff, but don't let it go in your head.
