I beat re7 last night and decided to post about it to hear others thoughts. All in all I found it enjoyable. More detailed opinion in spoiler I'll try to keep it short.
the atmosphere and game play kept me going for sure just the right amount of creepy "I'm not going in there moments" I'm looking at you grandma. The pacing was great and the dialogue wasn't to bad for a capcom.game.
Now my beefs: the game should've have been called resident evil and especially not 7 I couldve looked past it if it was and offshoot game but a part of the main series?!? No. It barely had any connection (magazine, a gun named Albert, and Chris? Maybe riding in a umbrella helicopter for some reason even though I think umbrella is no more at this point I don't remember. But making it a 7 it needs to be connected to the story arc, again if it was an offshoot story set in the same universe I would've accepted it more. I feel like they had a game then decided to call it RE to make sales. It spoiled some of the fun for me because I kept comparing it within the series instead of enjoying it as its own thing.
That was not short. What do you think?
6 답변작성자: UndeadGrizzly 1/30/2017 2:56:00 PMI just beat Marguerite. Can't say I'll be forgetting that fight anytime soon...
The game is phenomenal though. Makes me feel like I'm playing a modernized version of the originals. Often times I feel like I'm back in the old mansion with the jump scares and puzzles. My favorite resident evil game since 4 and perhaps my #1, but I'm not done yet.
16 답변작성자: The Stranger 1/30/2017 10:54:36 AMFirst off, my opinion of the game:
Amazing. I really couldn't have asked for a better return to Resi than what we got. The atmosphere is spot on: dark, foreboding and claustrophobic. They got the pacing down perfectly as well. From the initial slow stumbling exploration in the guest house, the first wtf confrontations with Mia and keeping that feeling of being underpowered right up to the end even as your arsenal gets better. Classic resi puzzles and exploration are back and it's graphically stunning. Even the addition of the bakers is well done. Like Nemesis before, they're kept around often enough for them to be terrifying, but not so long you learn their patterns and behaviours so they become mundane. My gripes are minor and come down to script, puzzles, length and enemy design. Let's be honest, some of Ethan's lines are either ridiculous or completely unbelievable. Can't fault the voice actors, but some lines make you wander just where Ethan's mind is at the time. I found myself imagining the script in Japanese, and found it would have been suitable as an anime or manga, but not as a western based horror game. With the puzzles, whilst well done, weren't as prolific is I'd like and just seemed to fizzle out after the old house and are completely absent from the second half of the game. As for length, I know everyone always wants more of their favourite games, but with previous games I'd really struggled to beat the 4 hour speed run limit, and there are still some games I haven't managed it on, yet I managed RE7 in 3.5 hours after only one previous run through. Finally enemy design. There are only 4 types of moulded: standard, clawed, crawlers and fat moulded AND THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME. It just gets a bit dull after a while. Also I miss the variety of the older games where you needed a different strategy for the zombies, dogs, hunters and lickers, rather than the stand well back and shoot of RE7s enemies.
Secondly, your beefs:

the game should(nt)'ve have been called resident evil and especially not 7 I couldve looked past it if it was and offshoot game but a part of the main series?!? No......
Replace "7" with "4" and you have my reaction 13 (?) years ago when Leon set out to defeat las Plagas. Up till that point we'd only had resi 1-3, CV, and the remasters of 1 and 0 on GC, all of which were classic puzzle based exploration shooters with dodgey camera angles, heavy resource management and zombies. Oh, and the light gun "Survivor" game. Suddenly you have this bright, fast moving game that throws away everything you loved about the series to make it "more accessible" (read "profitable"). Looking back though, it was just an evolution of the franchise. There's now a dozen different resi series (original trilogy plus 0 & CV, survivor/dead aim, outbreak, second trilogy, revelations and even the handheld gaiden game), with no two series being identical. As for your point about continuity, you're right in that at the end of 6 Umbrella, Neo umbrella and Tri-Cell(?) had all been defeated and swept under the rug which is part of the reason they decided to start a new story. But it was also because fans of the series had complained so much about 5 and 6 they didn't feel they could carry on. It was becoming like dragon ball z in that the enemies and heroes were becoming bigger and badder and the characters were having to do the same to keep up until they hit a point both good guys and bad were so overpowered they were unbelievable. Don't get me wrong, I have questions about the plot that need answers (what happened to Lucas? how is umbrella back? And more importantly why is Chris working for them??? But I'm sure a lot of my questions will be answered in the 6/7 DLC stories coming up and those that aren't will be revealed at some point over the next 2 games. I'm not looking at this as an end to a series I have loved for 20 years, but the start of an exciting, fantastic new trilogy to carry on the work of the previous games.
1 답변Honestly I thought it was amazing. I've played a good half of 4 which I hear is the best of the Resident Evil games so I could say if we're comparing to that it's fantastic. It's in my top three horror games, its number one and Alien Isolation and Outlast are under it. RE7 beats this because it's got the classic, "Wtf is that!" And the puzzles are good, guns feel not to powerful but just powerful enough, the bosses are fun and fairly well done, the graphics are fantastic, it's claustrophobic and scary. Probably a 9/10 for me. The only reason it doesn't get a 10 is some of the writing. Ethan's reaction to a lot of the shit that happens to him like seeing and fighting half of the things he does is slightly unrealistic. He seems completely calm like this is totally normal to be fighting weird zombie things that are nine feet tall, inside a families house that the member are nearly immortal. In Outlast your characters fear truly transferred, and he never even talked. Just the screams and grunts were enough to convey his terror. Ethan didn't really...

7 답변작성자: Kone19ps 1/30/2017 5:03:48 PMSeems like a desperate attempt at the first mainstream VR hybrid game. Seemed like a game to watch rather than play from the teaser demo. Hopefully it's a lot deeper than that. How long is it and how on rails?

4 답변
when getting the body parts for the serum, the parts are from the "D-series". Is this a new virus like the "T" and "G" virus, or since they mention it being a mold, is it similar to plagas.
I've only played the first hour but did it all in VR. I got up to where your having that lovely meal with the family and then the big bloke starts chasing you. Crazy experience but a lot of fun! I had seriously forgotten where I was for a while

3 답변I imagine that they'll continue on it in the future when they decide to release dlc. They're more or less following a similar style with Outlast so it won't be any surprise that they'll put in an extension for it later on. Remember Capcom's Asura's Wrath? Complete main story, the bigger bad shows up and you hit the paywall in order to see the rest of the story. In any case...
"Goddammit! How'm I gon' replace this?"
