I'm well aware that Rift is not the most popular game in the Crucible, but it's my favorite way to play Destiny. Please allow me to explain.
I've been playing shooters with a Clan - the same Clan - since Halo 2. We've taken a long path to get to Destiny, migrating through Call of Duty, Gears of War, Battlefield, Grand Theft Auto, Titanfall, and anything else that let has let us play as a team. Throughout those journeys, I've always loved objective-based gameplay.
My favorite scenarios occur when a game lets me acquire a crucial element (i.e. "Ball Taken!" or "I've got the bomb!") and choose my own path. I've never been comfortable defending a fixed position, and I'll usually lose a one-on-engagement in a kill-or-be-killed scenario. In a gametype like Rift, however, a gamer like me gets to shine. I know I'm not alone.
It's a rush to collect the Spark and go into full Quarterback Mode. I'm always telling my Clan that, if you want the Spark, you need to be willing to call the shots. The perfect Spark runner has a good sense for enemy choke-points. They link up with teammates and drive forward as a unified front. Or, they can use those same teammates to lure enemy defenders away from the flank they intend to exploit. Some of the best moves in Rift have nothing to do with pulling the trigger. I love the mental game - the tactical cat and mouse of it all.
I know... I know... This makes me "part of the problem," entering Rift with a solid team and winning through the brute strength of coordination. Playing Rift reminds me of amazing times that I had with the same old friends playing Assault or Capture the Flag. You can't change what you love. I'll take the scorn that comes from what we call "Victory through superior recruitment" if it inspires just one of you to go here and dip your toe in the water.
Please don't be mad at me for saying so. Please understand that I've been cannon fodder in every other Iron Banner. I've caught more than my fair share of Nova Bombs in the face like an idiot as I tried to control Zone B all by myself. I've been sniped out of the air like a clay pigeon as I floated around on Warlock wings in a game of Clash. I've bathed every map of the Crucible in my own blood - and I've been happy to do so. I love playing Destiny, and I don't mind giving you my Light. Someone has to lose, and it usually tends to be me. With Rift, I get to enjoy what's in my wheelhouse. It's been refreshing.
So, if you've played Rift this past week, I thank you. This Iron Banner has been a great time, and I truly appreciate the people who have played with me, even if against me. I've added some much-needed Light to my Warlock. I got to reconnect with some people on my friends list in the ways we used to play. Much love for every single Guardian we've met up with through Matchmaking - and that one lone wolf we pulled onto our team.
Mind you, the Crucible Team did not put Rift into Iron Banner circulation because I asked them to. I think maybe they know that there are players like me in the community, and they wanted to give us a chance to play some ball. Peace.

1 답변I mean personally I can respect this. I hate rift, with a burning passion. But if there are people that love rift and hate control/clash they should be able to play a game type they enjoy as well.

4 답변How hard would it be to just have "Iron Banner' and let people decide what format they wanted to play (Rift, Control, etc.?) I don't understand why it HAS to be a single format. Seems like you're just asking for everyone who doesn't like that particular format, to hate on it (and they do). Also, sounds like Iron Banner RIFT this past week was the result of some serious pouting on the part of Bungie employees rather than implementing something that the paying community really wants.

Didn't get to play much IB this time around. I got home last night from work and sweated it out trying to at least reach rank 5 on my titan. It came down to needing to win the final match before reset. I lost. I cried. Final result: rank 4, 2400/2500.

I'm not a fan of rift but i had am over all good experience in this iron banner, yes there was lag in games, yes other players didn't play objective and of course i lost games. But I did pick up over 20 pieces of gear at max light, won a lot of my matches, and most of all i had fun playing ,mostly playing solo.

I ran solo and completed two of my three. Would of got the third but a buddy wanted to run nightfall X3. People are going to complain......... perfect example is match making. Gave them what they wanted and still bitching.

4 답변Nice post Deej :) don't let the haters get you down! The crucible has rarely been as strong as it is now imo (and that's coming from someone who just trashed their 1.3 kd ratio playing 6 or 7 games in a row and getting around a .67 kd lol). Keep on listening to the community, don't get frustrated when you can't fulfill everyone's wishes at once and we will work to do the same! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays btw :)

Sir you have just "accurately" described me in words I could never express!! I love this game and play with all 3 of my Boys!! 1 v 1 and I'm dead!! EVERY time, go - in most matches but LOVE every minute of it!! Even when my autistic 3 yr old takes over the pad mid nightfall! !! 😂😂 keep up the mix up I say!! Even trials can be fun when people are out of there comfort zones!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

1 답변Rift is by far my least favorite game mode in the Destiny and it brought about a great amount of frustration many a time. I suck at running the Spark. Like really REALLY suck. So since I'm no good at that I do my best to support the spark runner the best I can and defend our rift when the enemy gets the Spark. A lot of times this worked out pretty well, I had fun, I wrecked people with the new fusion rifle that supposedly sucks, I conquered! Then when we have the times where no one is going for the freaking spark, I'm the ONLY one defending our rift and dying cause of four enemies shooting me in the head at the same time making it look like a one shot, and then my favorite little game of nobody is guarding the spark runner. I'm not that good people! I can't be expected to do everything. Think of the children! The fat, very hairy children. To be fair, when you go into battle with random players you take that kind of risk regardless of the game mode. Capture those stupid zones this isn't clash! Argh! Sorry flash back. However, I'm happy to see people are enjoying the game. If things are going south then make your own fun (which is easier said than done but doable). Good luck, my fellow guardians. IB is over but there is always something to blast. So yeah, have fun!

2 답변I actually really like the concept of rift. Probably my favorite mode in destiny. However it just doesn't play well. And I can't really explain why.
-
2 답변hey, lets do rift trial, since people who like objective based games don't get left out
-
2 답변I don't know why everyone is so mad at it being rift. Rift is great. Missed the first ib rift so I played a lot of this one. Brought my rift kd up by .11 ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
-
2 답변So just because you like it everyone has to suffer through it? (that is a rhetorical question)
-
They should change the rift to the relic from the echo chamber strike, it's to easy, if u pick up the spark and move a few feet and get killed u get more points than u lose, less points for picking it up in the begging, now u have a balanced team coordinated game
-
That's great... for you and the others that somehow find enjoyment in Rift. Still doesn't change the fact that Rift remains the most polarising PvP mode behind Trials of Osiris. Anyone can find enjoyment in the most disliked part of a video game, given enough interest. Point being: Good for you and the other Rift-Runners, but it doesn't solve the Iron Banner Rift debacle.

작성자: SpamTheDamage 12/13/2016 3:07:56 PMGreat post Deej! I had a great time this IB as well. I'm not the best, but I made some good plays, had some good times and got some sweet gear! Aside from some connection issues which ended up costing us a few games, it was a good iron banner.
