Oh look, another video of a Warlock illegitimately soloing a raid by using self revivive to avoid certain mechanics.
People don't realize what I feel is obvious, so here it is:
[spoiler]
I am not, by any means, saying he is a bad player. I can recognize that what he did indeed took skill to accomplish. With that said...
Part of the raid is that if you pick up a cannon, you can't throw a charge unless you wait 30 seconds.
He broke this rule/skipped this mechanic. By means of the definition (of the word illegitimate), he did the battle illegitimately.

How so? Because I realized that he skipped a mechanic, therefore making it illegitimate? Illegitimate = similar not following rules Part of the raid is that if you pick up a cannon, you can't throw a charge unless you wait 30 seconds. He broke this rule/skipped this mechanic. By means of definition, he did the battle illegitimately.

작성자: zNapSack 10/23/2016 5:57:15 AMTo my knowledge Bungie has never stated that using a legitimate class ability to avoid a game mechanic is not allowed. In fact they even stated his performance was a clever use of game mechanics. Therefore, your argument makes the assumption that one must obey the timer, regardless of the fact a Warlock has the legitimate ability to avoid it, which is precisely what he did. Instead, what you're doing is dismissing a remarkable accomplishment by using a causal argument which lacks validity since the premise of your argument is that the timer must be obeyed.

I never dismissed that what he did. I recognize that he showcased great skill. However, think about this... If you could tether Aksis right as he teleports and this glitched him and made him stay there, would you not consider that illegitimately beating him? Yes, classes (primarily warlocks) can do things to dodge mechanics. However, this mechanic is part of the raid. He did not partake in this mechanic, and therefore I view it as an illegitimate completion.

작성자: zNapSack 10/23/2016 6:18:34 AMI understand what you mean and most people, myself included, would obey the timer not recognizing there may be a way around it. He simply improvised and adapted by using a legitimate ability. If that's 'cheesing' then so be it. And although it might be fixed I have to commend him for not only thinking of it but actually accomplishing it. If I were there I would have something on the order of 'Dude!! Do you know what you just did!?!!', but would certainly not claim he cheesed it.

작성자: zNapSack 10/23/2016 2:17:02 PMSome are under the impression that bypassing a mechanic by using a legitimate ability is 'cheesing', if not outright cheating. However, who's to say Bungie didn't intend, knowingly or otherwise, for the abilities of a given class to be used for a purpose they never foresaw? Have they ever stated that doing so was cheating? Not to my knowledge. Furthermore, in most games and competitions, it's not what the rules say, it's what they don't say. Another example of this are laws, where if something is not explicitly illegal, then it's legal. Simply put, if there's no law (or rule) against it, then it's legal (allowed). However, there are many people who believe some things are simply wrong, although there's no law or rule against them, which appears to be the case here. Does this mean Bungie can't patch the game so it's no longer possible? Of course not. It's their house and their game so they can make changes and impose rules as they see fit. But at the time he did it, it was not expressly disallowed. Again, they even applauded him for being clever (their words) by using an ability they themselves gave to that class. That said, in my opinion, he simply used the tools he was given to bypass a mechanic that some assume must be obeyed, possibly because they never thought about doing so themselves. Or if so, never succeeded. But he did, and for that he should be applauded, not told he somehow cheated or violated some rule and therefore it shouldn't be recognized as a legitimate win.
