1. NO. The firebolt is an essential part of mid-range Sunsinger play in both PVP and PVE. The only people who call it "trash" simply dont' understand how to use it properly. The only reason the firebolt is even an issue is because of the VF/ToF buld. Which has already been nerfed into the ground because of whining from Trials players.
2. NO. The role of the Sunsinger in PVE is to give a fireteam the ability to defend a particular spot on the map when a Defender Titan is not present. The ability to deliver DoT is essential to filling that role.
5. That's makes it redundant with Flame Shield.
6. No. That would make it OP.
7. Agreed.

I didn't say the firebox is trash. I said it's trash in PVe. Reading comprehension is important.
There's no incentive to use a firebolt over a fusion or solar grenade at any distance right now.
I read what you said, and I disagree.
So yes....reading comprehension is important.
The firebolt WAS the only reliable AoE grenade in PVE, since all AI enemies are programmed to move away from Solar grenades, and Fusions do little damage unless its literally at the feet of its intended victim.
There's no incentive to use Firebolts right now because the nerf basically broke them. The time to detonation is so long...and the range of effect is so short...that half the firebolts you throw in PVE right now fail to do any damage ( even the trash mobs have time to move out of range).
...and about 75% that you'd throw in PVP wind up failing to do any damage.
Not beause there's anything wrong wit the design of firebolts, but because Bungie took them over a knee and broke them.
